I'm far more willing to accept the second from people who admit to the first.
I'd love to see a full-blown meta on the topic as well, because basically I'm completely on the other side of the spectrum. For all the fic I've written in the last four years or so, hardly any of it is totally Gen. Even that tends to allude to some kind of sexual or emotional relationship.
