Ack, I wish. I did this a few years ago when I still had my old journal, which is now deleted, and had some of the links in that entry. Best place to start googling is probably under 'Jack Tales'...I think that's where I started really getting good links to jump off of and ended up on a few really excellent academic sites that traced the origins through both the early English 'everyman' tales through the Appalachian folk stories. There was one that I wish I could remember where it was that went specifically into the trickster and anti-hero variations, 'cause I remember the clappy hands of glee it inspired. *headdesk* This is why I am not a librarian.
