Hee. I always lose links too, but I wouldn't have thought of googling 'Jack tales' so that's a good start. I'm intrigued at the idea of it picking up both European and North American traditions. Although if I'm not careful, this is going to turn into one of those 'I'm having too much fun researching to write' things...
