Warnings/Spoilers: None that I can see for Torchwood. Reference to the 10th Doctor episode "The Idiot's Lantern".
Summary: Everyone needs somewhere to belong.
A/N: This is the first in a set of six stories exploring what Jack was doing between being abandoned on Satellite Five and the beginning of Torchwood S1. This set will cover 1953-1970, and more are planned for 1970-1990, and 1991-present day.
Enormous thanks and double chocolate cookies must go to my beta-reader,crystalshard who valiantly read the lot and put her finger on the typos and through the plot holes. Any remaining gaffs are my own. Comments and concrit welcomed as ever.
