jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Jack - with blue cup)
[personal profile] jadesfire
I'm going to try to restrain myself today - after an internet-low weekend, I got a bit carried away with the whole posting thing yesterday, sorry. Goodness knows what I'll be like next Tuesday when I've had no internet at all for four days. Remind me to investigate TxtLJ. My network isn't supported. Ah well.

Randomly, we watched the House that was on Five US last night (Lines in the Sand). Damn, I'd forgotten how good it is. This does not bode well. I barely have room in my brain for two active fandoms (DW/TW, SGA). I'm not sure there's room for a third *whimpers* But...say I did want to get caught up quickly on House S3 & S4, and assume I know the rough outline of the Tritter arc. Just say I wanted to do that. Not that I do, purely hypothetical, you understand. Which episodes are 'must-see's? If I'm catching up. Which I'm totally not.

Anyhoo, today's stuff:

1. SGA fic! I'm quietly pleased with this. For some time, I've been aware that I focus on the guys when I write, and it was great to do something that showcased Teyla, just a little. It didn't come out quite how I expected, but I'm pleased with the results anyway.

Title: Genus: Wraith (the Who Are You remix)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] jadesfire2808
Original story: Class: Insecta by [livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow.
Ratings/Warnings: PG/None
Summary: John is better, and it is good to have him back. She is relieved and happy. Of course she is.

2. Big Bang Promo! If anyone wants a preview of the fic-that-ate-my-life and that I haven't stopped going on about recently, it's here. [as a completely random aside, I love that in the comm, bolded text comes up orange. Pretty!]

3. Writing List. This would be a WIP meme, if I had really started any of them properly.
- Jack/Suzie. 1st part written. (probably) 4 to go.
- SGA 'so top sekkrit even I'm not thinking of it' story.
- The SGA/Torchwood fusion that I'm not writing
- The First Watching Years story.

Huh. That's shorter than I thought. There's also a fun bit of meta that occured to me last night that I want to get written up, but otherwise...*rummages in brain*...yeah, that's about it right now.

4. To Do List. Yeah, this should probably come before the writing list, but like that's going to happen.

- Ring Home insurers
- Ring mobile network
- Sort comics for selling
- Sort books for selling (NB check Blackwell's current policy)
- Take back library books and pay fine (Shush now, no giggling at the back...)
- Clear pile of Standing Orders
- Change address with banks
- Ring Uncle
- List for mum
- Send parcel
- Restart comms?

5. More coffee. Yes, this is important enough to have its own entry on the list. Definitely.

NB check Blackwell's current policy - if they're like us (which they should be), they'll want you to write down a list of the ISBNs and take that in, then they'll check on the computer to see if they can take the books or not. Basically, they have to be current editions, in resaleable condition (ie not too many marks on the pages), and the shop needs to have sold more than ten copies in the preceding year. (Being a bigger shop, Broad Street may have more rules, or may need to have sold more copies or something, but those are the basics).

The big bang comm is very pretty!

And coffee is definitely deserving of its own entry :D

I hope you manage to get everything sorted - it looks like a long day of getting stuff done.

Also, yay for preview, it looks awesome.

Hmmm...the one in Oxford is usually more of a 'turn up with the books' kinda thing. Which is handy, because Oxfam is opposite, so I can always take them there if B'wells don't want them! But yeah, all those still apply. I do need to get it done before the students get back, though - the shop does most of their 2nd hand book buying over the summer, ready for the Freshers :)

Isn't it cool? And the previews are working so well to get everyone bouncing about the stories :D

Coffee always deserves its own entry.
