It's weird being in work when no one else is. *looks nervously over shoulder* The library's closed to readers for the next 2 days, so I'm here to attempt to not leave a pile of mysteries behind me when I leave on Friday.

I leave on Friday. *tries to breathe* Which would be awesome if it wasn't so terrifying.

The weekend was given over to Real Life (shockingly), so huge apologies to everyone to whom I owe fic, comments and emails. Hopefully I'll get them done today.

Part of that Real Life stuff was planning a holiday in January. The summer here has been...well...what summer? And the lack of sunshine has been horrendous for me. So we're chasing the sun south, probably either to the Canary Islands or Cape Verde. Does anyone have any other recommendations within a 6 hour flight of the UK? Or know of a nice, quiet hotel in the Canaries? All suggestions gratefully received.

Speaking of travel, I have train tickets to Cardiff! Next Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] crystalshard and I are heading over to see [livejournal.com profile] miss_zedem! Woo hoo! I seriously can't wait, even though I'm going to have to take a purse big enough to carry the gazillion tickets I had to buy to save myself money. Instead of an Oxford-Cardiff return, I have a return from Oxford to Didcot, then singles from Didcot to Swindon, Swindon to Cardiff, Cardiff to Swindon and Swindon to Didcot. Yes, thank you First Great Western. And when you print the tickets, they all come with two ticket-sized receipts. And the return will be in two parts anyway. So I make that *counts on fingers* 16 tickets altogether. Train Tickets: you're doing it wrong.

Otherwise, we had a nice dinner out with my parents-in-law and I got a lovely top from them for my birthday - it's all lacy and pretty. Oh, and I've fallen in complete lust with the Acer Aspire One, but am going to wait til January to buy it, when hopefully the 1GB version will have come down in price. Still, with the other half's new laptop arriving this week, I'm experiencing serious laptop envy.

Hope everyone's weekend was nice! How's your Monday?

So know what you mean. Though my last day is NEXT Friday... and I still haven't told a couple of other people I'm leaving. Oh dear.

Sunny in January, I was going to suggest Australia, but then, that's more like 26 hours flight than 6 hours. But god, you will have sun in January. So much sun that I think you might want to run back to Oxford to avoid getting heat stroke or melanoma. :P

Yay Cardiff! Oh, I miss that city...

It's a sudden 'oh good grief now?' moment, but the important thing is just to keep breathing...

Heh, yeah, we thought of that too! But we only have a week so spending 2-3 days travelling is less appealling. Nice thought though. And I'm sure I'd handle it for a few days. We've had about 2 days of sunshine since March, and it gets really old, really quickly :S

Yeah, a week's a bit short if you're travelling half way across the planet! And to be honest, I'd like less sunshine, TYK. I'd really love it if it could stay dark and gloomy for a little longer over here, but nope, not gonna happen. *sigh*

*giggle* They do seem to spit out rather more paper than necessary, don't they? And I've got 4 reservation numbers to type in - I'm going to be there a while...
