jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (SGA - McKay sleeping)

The image under the cut isn't a spoiler per se. It's from an upcoming episode, but there's no clue as to what's actually going on in the plot. Gakked from io9.com.

As the io9 caption said: "Rodney McKay is breaking my heart into tiny pieces"

[ETA: Contains S5 pairing controversy spoiler]

Oooh *makes interested noises* I wants context!

Also: the McKay/Keller thing continues into s5? *hopeful look*

Aww! RODNEY! What a sweetie pie!

(I semi-secretly hope they end up together. I have issues with Keller/Ronon that have very little to do with the show)

I think that must be "Brain storm" from what I've seen on Mallozzi's blog. Don't tell me anything else, I don't want to know!

I wants context too!

And yes. Sort of. Possibly - I'm a bit behind at the moment...

Isn't it cute! I have no strong feelings either way but oh! The look on his face...

I can't tell you anything else, because I don't know it! I'm happily way behind on canon right now but too busy to notice ;)

...errm, this is really petty of me, but is there any chance you could put a note about it being a pairing pic or somesuch? Because as beautiful as Rodney is here, this pairing makes me want to cry, in a not-good way...

(*has hopes for the manips to come of it, however. Put Teyla there! I've only been waiting for a Telya-Rodney head-touch for 5 $^$@*%@#$ seasons!!)

Hmmm. If you just said it was a picture of Rodney & Jennifer, would that be too spoilery? (I'm sorry, it's just, I've been trying to be ostrich-like and avoid thinking about this pairing, so I clicked expecting pretty Rodney and got a bit of a surprise. Yeah, I'm way over-sensitive, I know...sorry!)

ETA: saw the edited post, thank you! (I'm really sorry again, I know I'm being an idiot, I just am trying to avoid anti-squee...)

Rodney is lovely but you definitely need to put a warning up.

Noticed you have but is there more of a way to warn McShep otpers some might be ok with some spoilers but not with this picture. And without context it looks probably worse than it is.

And for those that don't ship McShep, is there a way to warn for the plethora of icons/manips/artwork about those two? No? Didn't think so... It's a non-spoilery picture with no context. I'm sure someone has already manipped it so Shep's stood there rather than Keller.

YES OMG I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO SQUEE OVER THIS WITH PEOPLE FOR A WHILE.

Ahem, sorry. The look on his Faaaaaaacceeeeee. There are so many interpretations of this (is it a goodbye? a 'thank god you're/we're alive?') and even if it's a precursor to her saying 'I can't' or something, we still get the scene itself. Also, did you see his thumb? Man HAS to bite his fingernails, I don't know any clipper that shears that close. Yes, I'm obsessed.

There's just... I think I'm actually a little in love with the character of Rodney, and just imagining him (rather than seeing it as David, I mean) in this position, with the look on his face, makes me ache for him, you know? He wants to be happy so much and OTP or not, I don't ever want to deny him that. I'll write around it when I write McShep, I'm okay with that, but gosh, just let him be happy! fdjslafkdsal

Oh, I think I love you right now - I had this terror that the rest of the comments were going to be 'argh Keller' as well :S This is my problem for being a Gen writer and therefore oblivious to these things...

ISN'T IT GORGEOUS???? I think I forgot to say 'btw Jennifer's there too' because I just got too distracted! The look on his face is just...just...*loses ability to speak*

He wants to be happy so much and OTP or not, I don't ever want to deny him that.
Oh, now I know I love you ;) there'll be a manip soon, I'm sure! And yes, he just looks so everything in this picture, so totally overwhelmed, and it's all right there on his face. It just sort of sucks you in, doesn't it?

Also, you are definitly obsessed and Rodney is SUCH a nail-biter. *offers plot-bunny*

My name is Darsy, and I like to ramble...

*hugs tight* If they are, just continue our thread of squee and we'll both weather the storm. Keller's just a 'love her/hate her' character though, to some of the haters: please, hate her for HER, not for who she may or may not end up with, argh to a lot of people, I guess.

Have you seen the extra huge version? I, PATHETICALLY, still have it up in a window 4368x2910 pixels o.O (http://pics.livejournal.com/dryope/pic/008p4rc0)! It's larger than life-size, haha. One thing seems clear--I don't think The Shrine was the last time David was given some meaty acting scenes.

I'm actually horribly affected by... I dunno, worries about readership when I think about writing gen, but I have always been attracted by the idea (which sounds all 'how quaint,' but in my mind it's more like 'I dunno if I'm that good'). Do you have any recs? My problem in reading it is that I tend to run across the 'pre-slash disguised as gen' so often that I can't wrap my mind around the good stuff being different, as I know it is. One of my favorite stories of all time is [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn's Down the Waterfall (http://whitepaperdream.com/archive/sga/downthewaterfall), a John & Teyla friendship piece that's just stunning.

This is really random of me, btw--as I don't think I've really thought about how I really feel about it till just now... Something tells me a good place to start would be your Big Bang ;) (I'm such a horrible Big Bang reader, argh. I guess my frustration with not finishing made me stupidly jealous and therefore made it hard to click...)

Yeah...the problem is I have major issues with canon pairings in this show, I just don't like how they handle romance. If I thought this was a friendship pic, I'd be fine with it...but I know that it's not. I don't want romance trumping my friendship moments, dangit! :P

You think you're bad - I had to C&P from Word...

*hugs back* I hope you know how much I love the fact that you ramble. I like talking to people! Like you, I have no problem with properly reasoned 'I don't think she works' dislikes, but just for the sake an OTP? Not something I get.

Oh good lord I think you broke my brain. *melts* That's just...*flails* HUGE!

Readership *is* an issue when you write gen, especially in SGA where McKay/Sheppard is so dominant. As long as you accept that you're writing for your own pleasure rather than for others to read, it's fine - if you start comparing comment stats...well. It's easy to get down-hearted. My problem is that I read some wonderful slash stories that I think would have been improved by making them Gen (I won't name names, because it's not nice ;)). I have less of a problem with pre-slash, because the show itself plays with it so much. For me, the friendship should be strong enough that unless you specifically want to write *about* the relationship, it's not necessary to have it for there to be real and deep emotion involved. All my stories push the friendship angle as hard as I can, because often it's a more interesting and in some ways fragile thing than an actual, stated relationship. *tilts head* I'm think that made better sense in my head...

Thanks for the rec, btw - will check it out. And the following is why you should never ask a librarian for a list *cracks knuckles*

Comms: Start with [livejournal.com profile] stargategenrec, for obvious reasons. There's also [livejournal.com profile] sga_genficathon which was all kinds of fun.

Authors:
[livejournal.com profile] friendshipper - Start with Even Bonnie and Clyde had off-days (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_genficathon/5676.html), Running on Empty (http://friendshipper.laylalawlor.com/running.shtml), Old Soldiers Die Hard (http://friendshipper.laylalawlor.com/soldiers.shtml) and Plumber's Help (http://friendshipper.laylalawlor.com/plumber.shtml). Then work your way through the rest.

[livejournal.com profile] tipper_green - Desert Orkids (http://megtipper.tripod.com/orkid.htm) is her epic but my favourite is Night Highway (http://megtipper.tripod.com/nighthighway.htm) because it's Rodney-centric.

[livejournal.com profile] kristen999, [livejournal.com profile] xparrot and [livejournal.com profile] wildcat88 write awesome stuff, and check out [livejournal.com profile] greyias for the best crack! Ooh, also [livejournal.com profile] perspi's Beneath Your Heart (http://perspi.livejournal.com/66217.html), which I podficced (http://jinjurly.com/audfiles/beneathyourheart.zip).

Of my stuff (http://jadesfire2808.livejournal.com/129762.html), I'm actually most proud of Bibula Harena (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_genficathon/9606.html), which is long, but not as long as Resonance (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=21). I do a good line in humour fic for SGA for some reason…

OK - where are the mcshep manips??

*taps foot impatiently*

Hehehehehe. Nothing against Keller but in my world that is so not going to happen. Rodney is saying bye bye. He loves John and has finally realised it.

Oops - see what too much fizzy pop does for you...
