There were several totally disconnected things I was going to say, so rather than spam you, I shall try to combine them here.

#1. There are only a couple of days left to sign up to [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa. It's a low pressure fest, with weeks and weeks to write, and the knowledge that you're writing something lovely for someone else.

#2. *puts on bullet-proof vest*
I know I said shoot me if I signed up for anything during NaNo, but the Last Fic Writer Standing challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] sgahcchallenges spoke to me and I couldn't resist. It's all [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper's fault anyway, I swear.

Photobucket

Sign-ups are here. Some of my favourite writers are taking part, and it's a chance to stretch some Gen muscles for a change. Come join us!

#3. [livejournal.com profile] artword, you've done it to me again *sigh* Remind me not to say that "I can write anything" in future. We're about to find out if that's true...

#4. I have no idea what my NaNo is going to be about, except that it's going to be about salt. All salty phrases (keep it clean, please, you know what I mean), trivia and research lines would be much appreciated.

I'm sure there was something else... Whatever it was, it's completely gone. Unless it was much squee for all the voice-posting that's been going on lately. It's so cool to hear you guys! Especially since you all already know what I sound like ;)

I'm on a 'Navigation' course this afternoon, and am only slightly worried that this software requires a whole two hours just to learn your way around it. Ah well, wish me luck! How's your Tuesday shaping up?

#1 I would, but I can't write SGA. They'll want McShep, and I can't do it.

#2 *loads gun* Am I going to have to remind you about the last h/c fic? And how you were never doing it again? Never mind, we'll be around to pick up the pieces...

#3 No comment :)

#4 Hmm. Salary? Salt of the earth? Worth his salt?

Voice-posting - I've been meaning to do this for ages, but I can't think of anything to say, and besides, kind of husky at the moment... We'll see how bored I get later ;)

#1. Not *everyone* wants McKay/Sheppard - I wouldn't sign up if they did!

#2. *grin* I remember. The fics are shorter this time, and it appeals to my competitive nature. Besides, I fully expect to go out in the first round!

#3.*blows raspberries*

#4. *G* Got them. It's amazing how many there are when you start prodding at it. Of course, I do need to decide whether it's sci-fi or historical, but I figure research first, plot later.

Awwwww, come on, you were telling us how sexy you sounded ;) Why not read a ficlet/drabble or help yourself to one of mine? It's so much fun hearing everybody!

See, that's what I thought, but everyone kept telling me that that's what I wrote by default. *shrugs* I do have a tendency to hit them with big sticks...

Okay, that could be the reason ;)

#1 - To add to what jadesfire said, not everyone wants McShep (though it is darn close). I looked through the requests yesterday and tried not to be alarmed because the few gen requests there - I'm not sure I can fulfil, so I'm really hoping more gen people sign up quickly...

Heh, I looked at the comm and I don't think it's something I can do. But I shall rashly promise to write you an SGA team!fic for Christmas even though we've never 'talked' before :D Throw some prompts my way, and I'll see what I can do with them.

Wow! That's amazing and so very lovely. Thank you! You really don't have to do that, but if you want to.... I'm not going to hold you to it. If you DO choose to go ahead with it, some prompts might be: Christmas in Atlantis, visitor/s from earth, season 4 or 5, manatee. Any or all of those (and yes, I am mostly kidding about the last one - I don't think I'd recognise a manatee if it swam up and introduced itself...)

Hee, I can do something with those prompts. I like manatees ;)

Any characters you don't like? Also, I'm used to Jades' style of gen, in which any onscreen relationships/UST are fair game to make mention of, but random imaginary ships (such as Sheppard/Mitchell, for example) are not. Just so I know - the amount of times I've started reading something that claims to be gen, and discovered it's actually McShep makes me wary of this stuff ;)

Oh and the icon is by [livejournal.com profile] crazydiamond_ - cute, isn't it?

I'm not too fond of Weir, but don't hate her either.

Sounds like I more or less agree with Jade's style of gen - if it's canon text then I've no problem with it. UST is a little more difficult to deal with, but I'd agree it's present for John & Teyla, Ronon & Keller, Keller & Rodney.

Imaginary ships - not, indeed! No Ronon/Todd/Ladon Radim 3-somes please! *Hopes with all her heart that no one has actually written that combination*

'Salsa' comes from salt. Some salts are toxic while others are vital to life (obviously concentration matters). On the floor of the Mediterranean Sea is kilometers and kilometers of salt. There are salt domes (kinda like salt glaciers) in some deserts. There are lots of seafaring expressions that relate to salt, obviously-- 'Old salt', 'salty dog' And now my brain is tapped.
