jadesfireIs it actually Monday again? Weird. Although most of my disorientation is because I was awake from 1.30 this morning, on and off. My brain had also decided that what it really, really wanted to do was continue the same strange dream every time I closed my eyes again. Which was disconcerting, to say the least, and I was actually quite grateful when it was time to get up. I'm pleased that my brain is able to hang onto a narrative thread even when interrupted, but couldn't it do that for stories rather than dreams? That would be much more useful.
Still, the weekend was great, as are most weekends that involve meeting people, coffee and shopping. The first two were achieved on Saturday with a great NaNo meet-up in Oxford. I'm kind of gutted that I can't make the next one but I had a really good time at this one, as well as picking up some useful ideas. The world seems to be coming together in my head, and I think the plot is going to be suitably twisty, which scares and excites me all at the same time.
Yesterday, we took a trip up to Bicester Village, which was scary and fun, all at the same time. Some new outlets have opened, including Dolce and Gabanna (where silver puffa jackets are very, very in) and Alexander McQueen (much more wearable than I'd expected, and only ten times what I could afford...). Since I got my best ever shopping bargain at DKNY at Bicester, we had a look there too, as well as Radley who make what are possibly the prettiest bags, pretty much ever. Not really affordable, but pretty Much fun.
What the weekend was *not* good for was writing. My SGA pinch-hit dried up on me, completely, so I have three beginnings of what could be quite good stories, they're just not this story. I think I worked something out on the bus on my way to work, so we'll see what happens. Because of a lack of productivity, I'm so very, very behind on my deadlines :S So, today I must:

- Write the pinch hit
- Read LFWS Round 1 stories and vote.
And if I get time, I should write my Tosh&Ianto fic, and beta Chrys' story (which I've read, just not commented on yet - I'm getting there, hon, I promise!)
At this point, I'm just trying to meet my fixed commitments, rather than the stuff I *want* to write, so the Halloween costume probably isn't going to happen. Since it's a story I planned to write anyway, that's okay, although I'm a bit miffed at myself for letting things get away from me. Tis ever thus, I suspect...
Oh, and since nobody loved me enough to make me my own NaNo banner (*sniff*) I shall also have to go in search of one, and maybe some icons. I won't be filtering my NaNo stuff, since I figure if you friended this journal, you knew what you were getting into, but I do promise to put long posts behind a cut. There will be word counts, extracts, complaints, questions and general flailing, I suspect, so if anyone wants to de-friend me for November (or, you know, permanently) this is your fair warning! No offence etc etc.
Hope everyone had a good weekend, even those of you who had to work, and that your Monday is as sunny and clear as mine. Don't get me wrong, it's freezing too, but the sunshine makes up for that. Definitely.

In just a bit I need to drive out to the farm supply store to get dog food and then into town to do early voting. I keep forgetting to go vote when I'm downtown. Working two blocks from the courthouse isn't enough of a memory jogger, so I have to do it on my day off. :)
