jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (SGA - McKay sleeping)

*blears*

Good morning, lovelies. How is everyone today?

*listens to resounding groans*

Yup, it's definitely Monday morning. Hope everyone got more sleep than me (not hard) and is feeling ready for the week. I was going to start with a happy list, but I'm struggling a bit for ideas here. I've a whole heap of tabs open, so expect a link-dump later, along with a Christmas Wish List. There have been surprisingly few people on my flist posting them, and I want to see what you want!

Other good things...

Er.

Oh, I know:

The fic that [livejournal.com profile] greyias and I are working on is making me giggle. And I have an idea for my LFWS story at last. I've also resisted the urge to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] undermistletoe because I already have too much on my own "want to write list". This is a surprisingly big achievement for me.

Ooh, and I'm going to book some holiday in December so I can see [livejournal.com profile] miss_zedem \o/

ETA: I found more happy things:
- We're confirming our holiday booking. Well, *I'm* confirming the holiday booking, which means using the phone, which is scary, but I'm up to it.
- I'm up to it because I brought a small, stuffed dog with me this morning. It's possible that this makes me pathetic, but I don't really care because he's fluffy and soft and very comforting.
- I brought some CDs to work with me. I'm usually more of a speech-radio person, but music has been good for me lately and I didn't have time to put them on my Zen. So I have Ruthie Henshall singing "I Dreamed A Dream", which makes a remarkable number of things better.
- This SGA Vid by [livejournal.com profile] zoetrope. "Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain". Shep+The Wizard of Oz = WIN!

Come on, folks. Tell me one good thing about your day, however small. We could all use cheering up this morning, I think.

ETA 2: The Promised Links:
Five Major Flaws in Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and how to fix them

Dammit, I meant to bring in a mug with a kitten on it, for NewWork. *pouts*
I am also tempted to bring in the soft kitten that came with said mug. NewWork is v. lonely.

WANT one of those metal dragons, they look awesome!

Eeee! Ubuntu! Of course, it looks like I might have to buy a new machine to get it to work properly. That's all right, I can bide my time.

Hrm... happy stuff... This post (http://blue-vervain.livejournal.com/523854.html) has been making me giggle all weekend.

I'm not sure if I want to have her vidbabies, or kidnap her and steal her talent. That vid is made of pure awesome, either way XD

you're not on the lfws list- did you get it submitted then?

the recycled pets thing makes me think of a local garage here (that fixes up cars and whatnot) that has someone who works there that sculpts moose and bears and whatnot out of random leftover bits of sheetmetal and car parts. They sit outside the shop until they are sold. very cool looking

I love that metal owl. Also, yay for holiday!

My day was rubbish, but I have something that might cheer you up, a video that fills me with so much glee every time I watch it:

Also, holiday! \o/

I brought a small, stuffed dog with me this morning. It's possible that this makes me pathetic, but I don't really care because he's fluffy and soft and very comforting.

This is exactly what I've been saying! Rather too timidly, so my "it should be perfectly acceptable for adults to bring a stuffed animal" campaign hasn't really taken off, but seriously. Some days you just need something soft and comforting that you can hug. I say it's realistic, not pathetic. :) And I have a small teddy bear (who happens to be dressed in a Star Trek uniform) that I bring with me sometimes. I usually know when I'm going to need him.

Good thing... way too late to be useful to you, but maybe tomorrow--we had a tiny little potluck lunch with the ESL faculty today, and it was the first time in ages I've looked forward to a meal. It also forced me to buy nicer things than I buy for myself, so I got to eat olives. Turns out my cat is crazy about them, too.

Oh, you thought of me!

*g*

I feel all warm and fuzzy. Seriously. And those sculptures are delightful, and they look incredibly well-crafted, and how I WANT ONE OF THE LIZARDS!
