Welcome to Monday
Dec. 1st, 2008 10:46 amSheesh, what a weekend. The other half went down with the bug even harder than I did, so we spent most of it sitting around, feeling sorry for ourselves. The most exciting part of the whole 48 hours was going to an Indian corner shop on the Cowley Road and stocking up on all our spices. Definitely worth it, since they're so much cheaper that way, and we also went into Tesco and bought tinned cherry tomatoes which are possibly the best packaged food invention since sliced bread.
Oh yes. We know how to live.
Being ill so much last week has left me with a huge backlog, not to mention all the fannish stuff I need to get done. And that's without even thinking about all the RL stuff we have to get done by Christmas. I've got a few days off next week and the week after, and boy, am I going to need them.
Anyway. Enough of my rambling, there are invoices to code! How's everyone else? Good weekends? Recovered from Thanksgiving? Not snowed in?
I also wanted to plug
consci_fan_mo to everyone. It's a comm for short fic - 100-2000 words - and it's taking fanfic AND original works, all with sci-fi/fantasy themes. I really can't do better than quote this from the user-profile:
"Three weeks of short stories of the sci-fi and fantasy kind, whether they be fanfiction or original works. The sort of stories you can curl up on the sofa with, while the weather does its worst outside, and can finish reading before your tea goes cold and your biscuit goes soggy in the saucer."
There are prompt posts if you get stuck, or just post whatever's been lurking on your hard-drive, waiting to get finished and out there. Some keen souls have posted already, so get over there and have a look. I'm even thinking of attempting some original stuff, although the thought makes me break out in a cold sweat...

Date: 2008-12-01 04:01 pm (UTC)MN always gets snow, and lots of it. My first year here was the worst- nearly 3 feet fell during the 3 day Halloween snowstorm (which lasted from Oct 30- Nov 2) and we got another snowstorm on Thanksgiving that dumped another 2 feet... it was nuts. But even in low snowfall years we'll pretty much have snow cover from late December through early March.
I'm waiting to read/vote till later in the day and the rest of the corrections were made. But yes. Emailing is a must.

Date: 2008-12-01 10:41 pm (UTC)Went to see Echo and the Bunnymen with my 2 sisters on Thursday which was brill, and probably the start of my weekend. I had a 50th Birthday party to got to on Friday, which it took me 20 minutes to find as I couldn't see the signs for the place because of the fog. Good fun though, and a nice calm day in work to follow.
Actually managed to get something posted for
Oh and Green and Blacks have got Christmas Edition chocolate. Yum!
