Did you miss me? Did you? Considering I only had to skip=80 to catch up with everyone, I'm thinking that there wasn't anyone around to miss me! But at least you left the place standing, so that's something.

The exhibition was a bit of a wash-out in the morning, but got interesting in the afternoon. If you've never seen Turning the Pages then open that link in another tab NOW so that you can explore. Seriously, I can't think of a single person around here who wouldn't enjoy it, and the things they're planning to add next year? Wow. This is as close as most of us are ever going to get to seeing a Leonardo da Vinci notebook or illuminated Haggadah up close. Just incredible.

My biggest disappointment of the day was not managing to get one of the free stuffed pigs that the British Library stand were giving away. Since I'd told my husband I'd get him one, I popped into John Lewis in the evening and bought him one. It has incredibly long legs and weighted feet so that it stands up! I got so distracted/excited by this, that I forgot I'd already bought my work secret santa present in M&S and bought a second one in JL *facepalm* All this shopping goes straight to my head.

Of course, going to the JL website (to try to find you a pig picture), I've just seen that they have a 20% off sale on Radley bags until Saturday. I love Radley bags *whimpers*

Otherwise, things about me take the usual list form:

- I went to the doctor this morning for other things, but also because I appeared to be growing scales on my face. You can't see them unless you look really hard, but they've been a little bit itchy, and more than a little disconcerting. Apparently it's eczema (which I guess I should learn to spell), which isn't a huge surprise, but it does mean that a)it's going to be tricky to get rid of and b)there's no telling when it will come and go. Grrr.

- My manager and I are being taken out to lunch by a book supplier today. My first business lunch!

- I have further proof that my flist is the awesomest thing in the history of awesome, since [livejournal.com profile] crystalshard sent me a beautiful pair of sparkly earrings and a silky jewellery roll. Thank you! They're lovely!

- I had dinner with an old, old friend last night, and it was brilliant. We've been through a lot together, but lost touch a little, and it's liking meeting her all over again. I think we like each other even better this time round, and I feel as though I'm getting a little piece of my past back.

- I really, really need to do the Christmas shopping thing. Meep!

- My [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa story collapsed. Again. While my Yuletide one is getting sorted, thanks to some timely intervention from the flist (thanks, guys!), I don't seem to be able to get the SGA one sorted in my head. And with [livejournal.com profile] miss_zedem not able to get on Yahoo much either, I feel like I'm missing the other half of my brain, and it's the half that has the good ideas... I'll think of something, but I'm at the flail stage where I'm convinced I just need to give up. That's not going to happen, but this bit's always a struggle. Worth it, but a struggle. At least part of the problem is my usual 'shape' issue. I'm pretty sure I've talked here before about how stories have shape and colour in my mind, and how I can't really write anything until I know what shape I'm trying to fill and what colour it should be. I think part of my problem with the [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa was that the story I was trying to write was round and red and squishy. It's a perfectly good story, and I do want to write it at some point, but it's not the story I want to write for the exchange. That story is purple. I can't see the shape yet - that'll come once I find a plot bunny - but it's no good trying to write a red story and hoping it'll come out purple. That just doesn't work. So I've got to start over. Again. And write purple this time.

As I think I've already said, I'm not really doing holiday cards this year - if you put a wishlist up, or I already have your address, and I manage to get organised enough, I hope to send you something, but I'm not doing a big shout-out for addresses yet. This is because I will be doing one in January for Morocco postcards, and if I attempt to do both, I might just bankrupt myself buying stamps. But I've skimmed everyone's wishlists, and do hope to make a post office trip soon...

Otherwise, things I want to do today/tomorrow apart from work-type-stuff:

- Christmas presents
- [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa Plotted! Thanks, donut!
- Prescription
- Yuletide plotting
- [livejournal.com profile] lostcityfound start sketching.
- Go through ONLINE paperwork
- Look at courses
- Book trips for Morocco
- TBB promo
- Olympia write-up, Audacity, meta-planning
- Beta~ing
- New icons ?and mood-theme?

Do I owe anyone anything? I get the feeling I do but can't quite remember. Please yell at me if I've forgotten (at jadesfire2808[at]gmail.com if you don't want to embarrass me in public ;)).

Ooh - [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako, did you get my email? Gmail's been erratic lately, so just checking.

How's everyone doing? Good days yesterday? What did you get up to without me?

Hi,

sitting here by the phone, waiting to hear if I've been successful at the interview yesterday (and getting the impression that I wasn't as the time goes by...) Trying to cheer myself up by reading and writing fic - off to post a couple of drabbles but my big stories got stuck - especially the TW/Spooks cross over....

Off to that turning the pages site...

For the eczema on the face thing the only thing I found to work for me was using Lush products. Never EVER put steroid cream on your face, you could end up with a thing called perioral dermatitis instead which I think is ten time worse than the eczema.

The stuff I used on my face that seemed to help was aqua marina (https://www.lush.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=116&category_id=493&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=80) with occasional angels on bare skin (https://www.lush.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=149&category_id=493&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=80) for exfoliation cleanser and imperialis (https://www.lush.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=403&category_id=485&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1) moisturiser, though I did use celestial (https://www.lush.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=48&category_id=485&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1) sometimes too. Depending on your skin type Fresh Pharmacy (https://www.lush.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=148&category_id=493&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=80) might also help but at the time it was too drying for me though I am using it now!

Buying Lush stuff online isn't a bad option atm as the prices have dropped due to the VAT cut.

For everything else, there's always chocolate! And if you eat dark chocolate it's apparently less likely to aggravate skin conditions! *proffers dark chocolate*

Bah! Turning the Pages doesn't like my version of firefox.

Everyone seems a bit meh on the writing front at the moment. I blame the weather :)

Have fun!

Ooh, what a wonderful excuse! I adore lush, but it makes the rest of me itch. It's a weird one - my face has always been fine with everything except make-up, while the rest of me is ultra-sensitive (I get urticeria :S). Now, the rest of me seems fine, and I'm loving having baths, but my face has flared up. If it's not one thing, it's everything else!

I'll definitely attempt the Lush thing, thanks. It smells so good, and we've got one in Oxford, so I might go have a look before buying :) Thank you!

Turning the Pages doesn't like my Firefox either. It seems a little awkward, but if you can get it working, it's worth it!

I missed you! I posted twice yesterday. Which means... something, I don't know what.

I remember you talking about shape and color of stories before. Did we talk about synesthesia before? I heard an interesting radio program about it recently, and I'm kind of jealous of people who have it. (ETA - found the link - The Infinite Mind: Synesthesia. They used to have the programs available for free download! :( )

The pigs sound adorable.

I'm trying to convince myself to put up a wishlist soon. I keep putting it off. ::beats back center-of-attention issues::

I've been embracing the [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo get one thing up a day plan, so far anyway. NEarly all appear to be Jack oriented, what a shock, I know. And I'm still trying to sort my feelings out about LFWS.

If you need someone to bounce ideas about for your secret santa thing you know where to find me

Wow. That programme sounds fascinating! I'd love to have true synaesthesia like that - one of my my husband's colleagues has it, with colours for letters. If a word's spelt wrong, even if it's in the middle of a page, it looks the wrong colour to her and she spots it. Mine's completely inexplicable and involves a lot of hand-waving ;) But it's essential for my story-writing, and I get frustrated when it goes wrong. I'll get there in the end. I hope :S

Ooh, please do put up a wishlist, even if it's a very, very filtered one. Think of it as giving pleasure to others - we'd love to give you something you'd love :D

And just to warn you - I'm about to go on an icon hunt...

I'm around for the next couple of hours (at the main issue desk) so would love to chat if you're around. About LFWS as well as this :S

Icons! Whee. Looking forward to it. :)

I'm around for awhile now, though I may have missed the window of when *you're* around, but if you'd like another "ear" to bounce fic thoughts off of, feel free. I haven't quite adjusted to the idea that I don't have any more work to take home with me, but I expect the "OMG I'm alone with nobody wanting things from me!" to hit soon. *g*

Am just about to head for home - donut and I bounced some stuff around and I *think* I have a plan. Will be sending it out for beta once written (hopefully tonight and tomorrow) so you'll see it then :) Thanks - I think this one might be right up your street, so will definitely appreciate the input.

Enjoy the freedom! And consider the wishlist something we want from you ;)
