Is this thing on? *taps screen*

Since I'm starting to use my Dreamwidth account a little more, I figured it was worth waving "hi" to people who've subscribed to this journal.
*waves*
My 'circle policy' is about the same as my friending policy on Livejournal, based on the Yes, Prime Minister school of policy making:
"But those are topics on which the government plans to have no policy! Our policy is not to have a policy!"
Mostly over here I'm subscribing to people, granting access to folks who are on my filters over at Livejournal rather than to everyone. I don't plan to lock much stuff over here - LJ's staying my 'personal' journal for now, while DW is mostly for reading - so not 'having access' shouldn't be too much of an issue. Anyway, things are open and subject to change at the moment. As I said in my parallel post over at LJ, I'm a P, and that's just the way we roll.
But just in case you have subscribed and are now thinking who is this woman..., ten things about me:
1. I'm a Christian. Mostly this comes up in references to going to church, but in case you wondering, yes, I go through choice.
2. I'm married. My husband puts up with more from me than anyone should have to, and he amazes me every day. As a humanties person married to a scientist, there's the occasional clash of cultures, but we usually resolve them by arguing in Pratchett quotations. Yes, we're geeks, and proud of it. Well. I am.
3. I'm very interested in the Myers-Briggs personality types, and am ENTP. That page actually pretty much describes me so I don't know why I'm bothering with the rest, but anyway.
4. I like to talk. A lot. Seriously. And I like listening to people talk. A lot. Can't get enough of it. Even if you have nothing to say about one of my posts, please do drop in for a chat. Chances are that I'm in the mood for a natter.
5. I'm a librarian in Oxford, where I was a student. I love this city and its libraries, mostly because...
6. I have a research habit. If I had to name a hobby other than writing, it would be learning. As a result, I know a little about an awful lot of things. Jack of all trades, master of none, but I'm learning to live with that.
7. I love to write. When I'm not writing words on a page/screen, I'm writing them in my head. Mostly at the moment, I write fanfic, but I'm trying to crawl out of my comfort zone into non-fiction and original writing. That one's harder work.
8. I suffer from mild depression and less mild food-issues. Sometimes I talk about them, sometimes I don't. Because I think it's important, and I'm sick of depression being such a stigma in the workplace and the church, I'm trying to talk about them more. This is probably easier when it's not you you're talking about.
9. I have a terror of being (from a memorable description of Jeremy Clarkson) "a holder of opinions unencumbered by fact" and will generally only voice views on a subject if I feel I know what I'm talking about. Which means most of the contents of my journal are personal, rather than polemical, because when combined with a loathing of labels, I find it hard to get to the point in less than twenty paragraphs, by which time everyone's wandered off anyway.
10. I love the English language and cry when writers abuse it. I dislike the terms "grammar nazi", "pimp", and smushing together of pairing names. English has the widest vocabulary of any language, and I like using as many words as possible. This is probably part of an effort to always say what I mean, and to be as unambiguous as possible. I'll let other people judge my success or failure on that front.
There's other stuff that I should probably warn people about, like my habit of heading up posts with quotes from "Round the Horne" or the way I'll sometimes post eight times in a day if I'm in that kind of mood or my modding habit (2 Big Bangs and counting...), but I figure those are just the kinds of things you get used to. One day, I'm going to do that "I have amnesia! Please tell me who I am!" meme, but knowing my friends' senses of humour, probably only after I've had a stiff drink or two...
