If you've seen The Greatest Show on Earth too many times, and like circus books, have you ever read the scifi book version? Barry B Longyear's 'City of Baraboo'? It's short- just over 200 pages- but wonderful (although, imo there should be a hanky warning, even if no one else seems to think so)
