This is Saving Furry Friends. As most of you won't know, one of my friends is a trustee of the charity and is working her socks off getting dogs out of kill shelters and either looking after them until they can be adopted or looking after them for the rest of their lives. She's pretty amazing, which is why I'm doing this when I normally wouldn't.
This is Billy:

From Becky's description:
"Billy's a 6 month old GSD Mix. He weighs about 30 pounds. He's neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, good with kids, cats, and other dogs. He's smart as hell, housebroken and crate trained. He is NOT good on a leash, because he was tied out for so long (most of his early life) but we're working on it. He's jut an all around awesome doggy dog.
If anyone out there is interested in adopting Billy, there is *no adoption fee* and we will still cover his neuter and arrange transport. Seriously, it's that desperate. [...] I'll happily provide an awesome, vetted, dog for you. You just provide him a home/foster home."
I've followed Billy's story from when Becky first adopted him, and he's breaking my heart. This is a smart, lively, loving dog who needs a home just for him. Transport can be arranged all up the East coast, from North Carolina to NY for anyone who wants a bright, lively, loving dog. Please drop me a line and I'll put you in touch. He'd make a wonderful member of any family, so please scan through your contact list to see if there's anyone who could love him, or if there's anyone who knows anyone who could love him.

Date: 2009-08-05 05:04 pm (UTC)I know an online community full of really good, animal-loving people. This wouldn't be the first time they'd banded together and helped a good animal find an equally good home.
Thing is, I don't want everyone knowing about my life on LJ, so I hesitate to link them to this post and alert them to my presence here. I went to the Saving Furry Friends site, thinking I could link to Billy there, but I don't see him.
Is there a place online where Billy's story can be found?

Date: 2009-08-05 05:09 pm (UTC)Becky has a 'SFF' blog that she might have posted to about Billy. If not, no one reads my Library blog at the moment. Why don't I put a post in there that you can link people to? I'll essentially just copy and paste this one, but maybe add a few more details. Then you can link people to a 'real' person's blog without worrying about cross-infection ;)

Date: 2009-08-05 06:14 pm (UTC)I wish Is could help. (And he could come and help me.) But it's not a happening situation right now. I need to win lottery/sell novel for massive advance so I can get a house with a yard and have a doggy. (Or doggies.)
