Dear Sky,

HOW CAN YOU STILL BE RAINING??? We've had an ocean's worth of water dumped on us today. Wasn't that enough for you? I have to cycle home in an hour and a half and I am Not Amused by your continual torrents.

Enough already.

No love
Me

PS. In an email to the other half I meant to type EPIC RAINFALL and ended up with EPIC RAINFAIL. I think the latter would be more accurate if the weather wasn't succeeding at making everything so damn wet.

In better news, I had a lovely coffee with knitting folks this lunchtime* and the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] white_hart has leant me a laptop so I won't be out of touch next week hardly at all. Given how fragile I've been lately, I'm thinking this is a good thing, although I may use Twitter to take notes since it's more subtle during a talk.

Also, I am breaking my writer's block by using a great big red pencil to write with. I always write by hand when I get stuck, but for some reason, the crayon-y feel of the pencil is immensely comforting and making me less scared about ditching a couple of hundred words to make the story work. This makes me happy :)

*I don't knit, but they do, and very nicely too.

I've missed something, I'm sorry - what's next week? Are you going to a conference?

*nods* I'm at a library conference in Manchester from Wednesday to Saturday. I'm mostly looking forward to it (especially since I got cheap 1st class train tickets \o/) but being out of touch for that long was making me twitchy.

*clings to laptop*

Ah, yes. I know that twitchiness. Yay laptop! (And wow, you'll have to describe what 1st class is like.)

I hope the weather improves for you.

The rain has an advantage to it... Our front garden is actually soft enough that I could drive half a dozen bamboo stakes in to support the sweet-peas that are growing wild out there. That's the first time it's been possible in three summers here.

I shall take small comfort in that as I swim home...
