There's a soup I LOVE, but it's the chunky kind rather than the broth kind. Also, it's ages since I made it and I have no clue where the recipe book is /o\ I'll have a rummage and get back to you.
As for Hugh - there used to be a paddle steamer that went from Barry Island. Anyhoo, it's called The Waverley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS_Waverley), and as far as I know is still in operation. Some mystery aboard that, perhaps? Or something about Tiger Bay?
