Intro Post
Mar. 24th, 2020 09:43 amIf you're just here for fic and podfic, welcome! Everything's archived over at AO3 now, so head over there to see what I've been up to.
Just for the record, I give blanket permission for anyone to podfic, make art, remix and generally creatively re-use my writings and recordings. If you drop me a link, I will do my best to send everyone else there to squee at it as well.
Me: I answer to my name, Jadesfire, Jades and variations thereof (pronouns she/her). I'm a thirty-something librarian living in Oxford in the UK, with my husband J. We often borrow a dog called Jack who I sometimes talk about as well. In general, I describe myself as a socially anxious extrovert, in that I'm friendly but shy, often to the point of being nervous to say hello to people.
My Fanning: I'm serially monofannish, which is to say I am PASSIONATELY IN LOVE with whatever I've been watching this week. Abiding enthusiasms include Critical Role, The Marvel/Netflix series, the MCU and the Rivers of London books by Ben Aaronovitch.
My Journal: A mixture of locked and not, personal and general. I don't talk about politics, religion or my colleagues. I do talk about food, libraries and the weather. For mental health reasons, I keep off any 'hot topics' as much as possible, although when I'm cross enough, it comes out anyway. I only talk about the students I work with when I think I'd be happy for them to share the story, or I'm talking in gross generalisations. My biggest principle is "don't put anything on the internet you wouldn't want your employer to read."
I'm also online at Tumblr fannishly, and Twitter and Instagram personally, if any of those are more your speed.
Every day is Circle Amnesty day. Add or remove me at will, I don't get offended by stuff like that.

Date: 2017-08-25 07:42 am (UTC)Hello, there! I'm an infrequent poster over here at the moment, but I want to get back in the habit. Currently, I'm mostly over on Tumblr, flailing over the Marvel Netflix series and Critical Role (D&D web series). I'm also trying to get too many podfics finished at the same time, and confusing myself over which is which, which is...confusing.
How are you finding dW?

Date: 2017-08-25 02:44 pm (UTC)I've seen a slight swing back to dW from Tumblr lately. Not hugely, but people realising that it's a style of platform offering a lot of stuff Tumblr doesn't. It's so hard to organise communities of people on Tumblr compared to over here, I think.
One thing that is probably tipping the balance is that I lock all my personal stuff, whereas fanfic is public, so it probably looks like that's all I post, and I'm sure I'm not alone. It where Comms used be awesome, because you could meet people there and get to know them before opening up everything.
On the other hand, I don't write anything on the internet that I wouldn't be okay with anyone reading (not thrilled, but okay) - if you do end up adding me, there's a few things here and there that aren't just random fandom stuff.
...on the other hand, as I was part of 7 Pod Together projects and am about to go on holiday... yeah. that's most of what I'm posting at the moment :)

Date: 2017-08-25 03:08 pm (UTC)I pretty much keep my journal locked and filtered. It's a habit from lj. I think I joined lj around the same time .. April 2005. Funny enough, it was because I met some Brits who convinced me to get on.
I'm at work now, so just writing this is happening in between other tasks. If you don't mind (another?) crazy american, I'd be happy to add, follow, circle, friend (I still don't know what the dW verb is!) you.

Welcome aboard!
