A new notebook sounds like an excellent way to start off the new year. :) I have used engagement calendars for a number of years to write down my daily writing word counts and goals for the week (the book-sized kind with a picture of nature or birds or something opposite the week's calendar page) and it's always a nice fresh clean-start feeling to pick out a new one and open it to the first week of January.
