House drabbles
Sep. 17th, 2007 09:52 pmThese are the two House drabbles to come out of the fest so far:
Title: Breaking Point (for
fandom_me)
Rating: Gen
Summary: It's just a case of knowing what buttons to push.
There's always a moment when enough is enough. When the look goes from exasperated to tired, from annoyed to defeated. If you know where the buttons are, you can push them until they overload. And if you don't know, then you have to push until you find them. Patients, colleagues, friends, lovers are all the same, all have their pressure points, reflexes that make them respond without thinking.
House knows exactly where everyone says he should stop, it's just that he doesn't want to. Because you don’t learn anything that way. And that way, they don't learn anything about you.
Title: The Replacement (for
bironic)
Rating: Gen
Summary: Even Emergency Medical Holograms need a locum... (House/Voyager crossover. Yes, really)
"Please state the nature of the medical emergency who the hell wrote this script?"
Janeway raised an eyebrow. "This is your replacement?"
"My locum." The Doctor smiled faintly.
"He's not in uniform."
"He keeps rewriting the subroutines."
The new doctor cocked his head, blinking, and suddenly the room was full of pounding music.
"Off!" Janeway shouted, glaring at the replacement, who ignored her, turning away and selecting something on a display. It looked like a particularly risqué antique film.
"He was a great doctor in his day," the Doctor said. "And just think how much you'll appreciate having me back."

Oh, he would. He so would.
And in case you didn't know: In some Scandinavian languages, locum means lavatory. But then again, they also call 'friend' 'limping twerp'

Date: 2007-09-19 02:31 am (UTC)That is House in a nutshell. What a lovely drabble!
The other one (once I dredged up Voyager out of the catacombs of my brain) made me grin all over my face. Pounding music and rique' films indeed! That's our House. :)
