jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Cute - iz ded)

Right, this is it, the story that proves I have finally flipped. Actually, the stories, because my Halloween costume is a bit of a patchwork this year. Imagine I've come as a harlequin…

Title: Your Love Alone
Fandoms: Babylon 5, X-men, Sapphire and Steel, Criminal minds, Doctor Who, Buffy, House, Torchwood, Stargate Atlantis.
Characters or Pairing: Multiple characters.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 9 ficlets.

Summary: Angsting all the way, through various stories, characters and universes, linked by gratuitous use of the Manic Street Preachers' song "Your Love Alone (is not enough)", which provides the quotation at the beginning of each story.

Why it’s a costume: I never write angst, not this unrelenting anyway. I never write drabble-type things that are more than 100 words. I almost never write in the present tense. I never write stories based this closely on songs. It's not been beta'd, which makes me break out in a cold sweat.

A/N I: Uses knowledge of: Babylon 5, S5; Dead X-men characters; Sapphire and Steel; Criminal Minds 'De-railed'; Doctor Who, 'Last of the Time Lords'; Buffy 'Graduation Day'; House, 'Love Hurts'; Torchwood, 'Small Worlds'; Stargate Atlantis, 'Sanctuary'. In that order.

A/N II: Each story has its own entry, which is linked to below. Bonus drabble of your choice to anyone who knows all 9 fandoms.

A/N III: I think I broke my brain…

Chains (B5)
Ghosts (X-men, comicverse)
Enough (Sapphire and Steel)
Things Unsaid (Criminal Minds)
Responsible (Doctor Who)
Fire Bad, Tree Pretty (Buffy)
Expectations (House)
Kindness (Torchwood)
Remembrance (Stargate Atlantis)

Alternatively, use the Come as you aren't tag to find all the stories.

*g* I'm feeling slightly tripped out, tbh. These really took it out of me - to keep them angsty without the note of lightness that I usually go for.

Time for something fluffy, I think...

After reading all of these I need donuts. *sniff* They are so sad and angsty, and so unlike you!

Well, that was the idea... I'm really glad they worked, though, as they were so unlike me that I really couldn't tell.

Oh, and since you commented on all nine, may I offer you the drabble of your choice? Just give me a fandom and prompt word and I'll get back to you tomorrow. Once I put my brain back together again...

*passes tissues and donuts, not necessarily in that order*

*takes donut* Loved all nine, I'm not horribly familiar with Sapphire and Steel, but I've seen enough to follow it. Ooh, a drabble of my choice?

*ponders*

Would it be possible to ask for something in your ficverse with Marion Jones and the prompt of "coffee"?

(If not, then a B5 drabble with Garabaldi (whose name I can not spell today) and the prompt 'opera')

I'm a huge David Macullum fan (I was most disappointed not to be able to get a Man from UNCLE ficlet in here, and I have an unfinished Torchwood crossover lurking around here somewhere...) so I adore Sapphire and Steel. Just the right amount of creepiness :)

And I already know what I'm going to write for Marion, so I'll dash that off tomorrow. Along with killing the rest of the plot bunnies that have eaten my brain...

*blinks* I did! I posted on the main party thread - there'll be a links round-up at the end, anyway.

I've also been a good girl and crossposted where I can actually find a community to post to :) I'm now working on something for [livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic, that hopefully will be a little less angsty...not that that would be hard!

I've read the ones in fandoms I'm familiar with and I adore them all, particularly the Dr Who one and that wonderful last line. You done good girl, now have some chocolate to help with all that angst.

Yay! These were wonderful, and angsty, and fantastic for a costume.

I'm still not done with mine...

I've read six of the nine. I really like this approach to a theme. It shows your experience and breadth of sensitivity and pulls it all together.

I'm not always a fan of present tense narration, but I think it works very well in these, where the focus is contemplative, inner thoughts.

Gosh, thank you so much. It was a real struggle to write most of them, but kind of satisfying as well. So glad you enjoyed :)
