Anywhere but here
Jan. 25th, 2008 10:51 amI'm wandering about, prodding at stuff and generally posting anywhere but in my own journal. So let me encourage you to do likewise:
-
purimgifts is up and running, and is a lovely gift exchange community. Nothing too pressurised, just little stories and nice pictures to make someone else smile. Go sign up if you haven't already, and do encourage others to do the same. It'd be great to make sure everyone gets something they like.
- [pinched from
fandom_me] There's a lovely comment-fic-exchange-thingummy going on here with some great stuff being written. I'm just about to potter over to leave some comments and maybe some fic. Again, very gentle and friendly and fun.
- The
tardis_bigbang deadlines of various descriptions are approaching. We're still in need of artists to produce graphics etc for the various stories that are being written. If you are an artist, or know artists, do check out the community and see if you'd like to take part. Also, if people know of good places to post promos to, I'd be very grateful. While not everyone who signs up to write will finish (and I'm dubious as to whether I will, TBH), we're still a huge number of artists short for the number of writers.
- The episode discussion is continuing over at
torchwood_meta, and some interesting points are being raised. Do go check it out and see what you think. I'm thinking we might post a discussion thread on Sunday for people who are watching on BBCAmerica tomorrow, rather than have people wade through the sheer volume of replies to the original post.
- The Thread of Doooooom seems to be slowing down - 4 days and we're not even up to 2,000 comments. Even if you don't know
travels_in_time, do drop in there and leave her a comment or two. I met some of you guys at
fandom_me's version of this a while back, so I am of the general opinion that it's a good thing. Plus there are some astonishingly cute pictures over there which are worth the look. Maybe things will pick up over the weekend when everyone has more time.
- I always recommend Radio 4 programmes, but I thought of some of you when I saw the link for Zine scene. Unfortunately, only the second programme is available now, but the first was quite an interesting look at fanzines, past and present. Definitely recommended listening.
And anyone who has other interesting things, please point me at them. I have some stuff that I'm prodding at, but no particular inclination to do anything else, and I've taken lots of the communites off my watchlist lately. So what am I missing?

Date: 2008-01-25 01:50 pm (UTC)And I'm definitely dropping out of the Big Bang. I am nowhere near prolific enough to attempt 20,000 words at the moment.
Can't really tell you what you're missing, if anything. Most of my free time these days is spent over at Whoville. :-)

Date: 2008-01-25 04:44 pm (UTC)But still. I'm thinking I should have more than 300 handwritten words and some vague handwavy images by then...

Date: 2008-01-25 04:57 pm (UTC)I'm still intimidated by any episode discussion, for reasons I can't quite pin down, but that sounds like a nice idea. I'm usually behind in my viewing anyway and don't seem to make it to the party in the few days after the UK airing.
