In 2008, I'm going to keep better track of what I write.
These seems to have been the month for Jack-angst, as well as for rounding up old ideas and finally writing them. Of the four Torchwood stories, 3 are what I think are some of the best Jack character studies I've written, while the fourth is some of my trippiest crack. It's been that kind of month.
Decisions (1,300 words)
Jack readjusting to 'normal' life after the Year that Wasn't hasn't really been tackled in Torchwood yet, which is a shame. This was about as normal as I could come up with, and it turned out as I wanted it, which is always nice.
The Broken Places (2,645 words)
I'm pretty sure this is my favourite of my Jack character studies. Z and Chrys made me push it hard, putting more emotion onto the page than I'm used to, but it turned out all the better for it.
For the love of cheese (1,150 words)
As I said at the time, I will be producing this fic at my upcoming insanity hearing...
From the Ashes (3,300 words)
This was a very, very old story that I resurrected and padded out. Again, Z made me put the heart into the story, so that Jack came out a little more broken than I'd intended. But it gave closure to some outstanding issues, for Jack and me, so I guess that's a good thing.
So that's 4 stories and about 8,400 words. Not too bad. I also polished my
sga_santa story (here) and got it posted. That one's over 7k, but since most of it was written in December, I don't think it counts :)

Date: 2008-01-31 06:25 pm (UTC)"Torchwood" is...well, I watch it for one of the characters (Jack (see icon)) mostly, but I think it's worth a look. It's adult sci-fi, sort of spin off from Doctor Who. S1 has its flaws, but it's a fair to decent start, and S2 is shaping up really, really well so far. There's a very, very spoilery overview here (http://community.livejournal.com/crack_van/2276825.html) at
