jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Cute - penguin)
[personal profile] jadesfire
My mother was sent these by a friend in Romania, and since [livejournal.com profile] dyddgu didn't get the promised snow and I know [livejournal.com profile] rustydog loves this kind of thing, I have wrestled with LJ's scrapbook for the first time and uploaded them all.

The day the sea froze.

After doing some digging around, I'm fairly sure it's the Black Sea at Constanta in Romania. There are some previews under the cut.

I should probably add that the waves themselves aren't actually frozen, they just look like they are because of the floating ice. Either way, it looks incredible. If you google for 'frozen sea romania', you get lots of similar pictures. Stunning.

Isn't it amazing? I'd say I want to live there, but it looks really cold...

I think it's the kind of thing I can appreciate best while I'm warm and dry!

I had everyone at work crowding round and wowing at them. The readers wondered what on earth was going on :)

I'm not being very original here, but I'm still adding my 'Wow', just because I can.

::gasps:: That is astounding. If I were there I would get frostbite because I would never want to go inside! Beautiful, wondrous thing. People are walking on it! I love the one of the water spray coming up through the tube of ice. And the sunset.

Thank you for sharing!
