jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Gives in - You did not just say that)

My socks have a hole in, right on the toe :(

I love these socks. They have grinning monkeys on. I hate boring socks. To console myself, I'm off to discover steampunk at the library.

Clearly, you all need to know this. Apparently a disturbed night's sleep makes me want to spam my flist. I'll be going now...

You're talking to the girl who once managed to tie a pair of knitting needles together. Cross stitch I can manage, but otherwise I tend to have whatever the sewing equivalent of a 'black thumb' is...

I had to wiki it to find out what it was, but I'm now armed and dangerous :) We'll see what happens, but you might be getting fic soon...

Steampunk fic from you? *cheers*

Yu might be getting some from me, as well. There's a triptych expansion on a drabble I wrote recently that's screaming to be written.

Clearly this is a travesty!

Do you need sock fic to cheer you up?

It's obviously the end of the world.

Ooh! Sock fic would be wonderful, thanks, if only because I'm intrigued...

[livejournal.com profile] crystalshard wrote TW sock fic, I'm sure of it. I haven't seen SGA sock fic though, but it looks like I'm about to *grins*

In this one they WERE socks. Everyone- John, Elizabeth, Rodney, Kate, Teyla, Ronon... and they were different types (I think John and Elizabeth were a pair, Rodney/kate etc) but they'd meet up and talk in the washing machine. It was odd

Ooh, yes, I have read that one. Yeah, I remember that weird didn't begin to cover it. SGA turns out some pretty trippy stuff, but that? Whole new level of odd. Fun but odd.

weird didn't begin to cover it is a pretty good description. The fact it worked in McShep somehow was what blew my mind.

It never ceases to amaze me how SGA churns out AUs and cracks of all varieties that always somehow work. I mean, I've read McKay/Sheppard as ice-skaters, women, high school kids, penguins, a unicorn and a rainbow, dolphins (sort of - it's one of [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's and makes an odd kind of sense), conductor and violinist, robot, wraith, turkeys... As far as I can tell the list is endless.

But I can count the Torchwood AUs on the fingers of one thumb. There's a few 'alternate endings' ones, but genuine, situational AUs? I can't think of any. Very odd.

SGA does have probably close to 10x the amount of fic than TW does. But you're right, it does tend to lend itself to cracked AUs more than TW. (penguins? really?)

When people go "AU" in TWverse it tends to only slightly deviate from basic canon (people are still human, of the same sex, etc)

*nods* People like to put the plot right in TW, but I haven't seen any 100% AUs.

And yes, penguins, really. There was something about looking after an egg...I'll see if I can find it :)

That's... just brilliant! XD

I almost wrote a fic last Friday shipping all of the technology on Atlantis fell with various expedition members -- but I stopped myself. Some of my notes/brainstorming were bad.

proper English is overrated.

I'm still a little embarrassed about my alien donut series. There's 12 drabbles. It's SGA with a TW crossover (Jack Harkness is in them) Here's a link to the first Alien Donuts (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/24314.html) *hangs head in shame*

*grin* I appreciate the offer anyway. I'll have to take them over to [livejournal.com profile] dyddgu's library and get her to show me ;D

Although given my usual prowess with anything sewing-related, I'm going to need the 'darning for dummies' guide...

Aww! My first fun socks were pink with monkeys and bananas! Somebody on my flist sent them to me when I posted that I often wore mismatched socks, because I didn't want to waste them, especially when they were bereft of their life mates, and I was also campaigning for all-sock rights. Inter-sock marriage shouldn't be a fashion crime! Just because they're two different colors...

Ahem. Socks are fun. I'm sorry yours have a hole! Maybe you can match the other monkey sock with an elephant sock or something? :)

I learned the term steampunk for the first time this week, too. Yay!

*grin* I have too many pairs of socks as it is, so I'm regarding it as sad but natural wastage. I hate boring socks, so all of mine have words or stripes or pictures or something on them. I have some black ones, but they're only for interviews :)

I'm reading some steampunk stuff and it's good, but not enough to make me want to write it. Not yet, anyway...
