jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Gives in - McKay - bored)

I think my brain is rusting. It's just seized up completely, utterly uninterested in doing anything. At all. Ever.

So. Prompt me, people! Word, fandom, time-stamp-style-request, song lyric, ridiculously overcomplicated fic idea, research that you've been meaning to do but haven't got round to, thoughts on life, the universe in general and everything in between.

No promises, no guarantees, no phone, no pool, no pets, but I need prodding into action and I'm hoping you guys have the pointy sticks to jab me with. You could get anything from a drabble (feel free to pick anything from my interests list) to an original story, to a ramble about a childhood memory. It's just that kind of day.

Anyone up for the lucky dip, please just leave a comment!

I have writer's block the size of the Hoover Dam, so I'm giving away the list of my own prompts and news stories I've had squirreled away. (The theory being that clearing out the closet will spark new thought.) Here's a word of the day prompt that needs a good home:

quietus:
1. Final discharge or acquittance, as from debt or obligation.
2. Removal from activity; rest; death.
3. Something that serves to suppress or quiet.

Quietus is from Medieval Latin quietus (est), "(it is) at rest" (said of an obligation that has been discharged), from Latin quietus, "at rest."

Five drabbles, five different characters, all with this theme? *holds out adorable little plot bunny*

Ooh, I like that. I used the words of the day when I was writing all my Torchwood drabbles - most inspiring.

5 drabbles, 5 members of Team Torchwood...should work :)

*pets the bunny* Most adorable ;)

Hum. Er. *shuffles feet* I started writing drabbles, but Owen just kind of took over and then the pterodactyl got involved and...

Well, the result is over here (http://heretoutopia.livejournal.com/38253.html) at my fic journal. Er, oops?

Ooooh, Owen and the pterodactyl in the same story? *claps hands in glee and scurries off to look*

Okay I'm sorry for this, but it's an idea that popped into my head a few days ago and wont leave. You can suffer along with me.

How would Jack cope with St Trinians? Also Yvonne Hartman was definatly head girl there once upon a time...

Like I said, I'm sorry...

hmmmm...I've never actually seen any St Trinians, so I think I'm the one who's going to have to apologise. I'll play with some words and see what happens, but you may have to write that one yourself ;D

Heh, I watched St Trinians when I was a kid, still love them and always will. (the new one was a little bit 'meh' but still St Trinians so I was happy) You don't have to write anything, just sharing the mad little workings of my brain.

*giggle* That's probably the most original prompt I've ever been given, but I can definitely do something with that... Yup, definitely :D Thanks!

Oh, good! Because I was about to make you more Clippy-based prompts using actual SGA screen shots. Heh. I need less coffee in the morning.

A Jack-centric adventure, right before he meets up with the Doctor and Rose for the first time in the 40's. :)

*g* I never ask for much... ;) Other choice is to write a story around the word: "awarpen" (means Thrown or cast, one of those 'forgotten English' words :))

It's not exactly an adventure, I'm afraid, and the tenses nearly killed me...

A Longing to Inquire (http://heretoutopia.livejournal.com/38806.html) is the best I could do :)

Change around as you please, but how about: Ronon + "amphibology" - Word of the Day for April 3 on my calendar (I skipped ahead just for you! *g*), "a sentence or phrase that can be interpreted in more than one way."

*g* I appreciate the sacrifice ;) Entertainingly, it can either be 'amphibology' or 'amphiboly', just to keep us completely confused...

Oooooh, I love prompting!!

How about a Firefly/SGA crossover? Captain Reynolds meets Colonel Sheppard, or maybe Kaylee meets Rodney and they bond over mechanical stuff? Ronon and Zoe go a few rounds/compare weapons (with much grudging respect on both sides)?

You know Rodney and Kaylee would be peas in a pod, don't you, especially since Kaylee wouldn't mind Rodney's lack of social graces and Rodney would be put right at ease by Kaylee's easygoingness...

They'd be trading insults within minutes :) Especially when Rodney finds out she hasn't got any qualifications, and she starts mocking him for all of his...

this is going to be fun!

Um, I'm afraid my brain saw the prompt and went "the only way I can write this is as fluffy Jack/Ianto". So. Sorry about that...

I loved two of the headlines for NPR's Story of the Day from November:

"How Chocolate Can Save the Planet"
"'Mesozoic Cow' Rises from the Sahara Desert"

My current thought on the universe: you give and take, but it's really hard to keep the see-saw level.

Don't know if that will help! I tried to get specific, fandom wise, but I think my Choosing brain is broken from our election primaries today. Plus, leaving it open for personal rambling. :)

See what you can do with this (http://www.ketzle.com/frost/snowyeve.htm). It's one of my favourite poems.

Failing that, give me s2 Ianto and the Doctor. Whichever incarnation you want. Prompt: We're talking about you, not to you.

It's one of my favourites too - must have used it in all my fandoms as an opening story quote :) So I'll probably go with that - not feeling very Doctor-y at the moment...

Prompt received and noted :)
