1. I think I may finally have an idea that works for my tardis_bigbang fic. Nobody faint! Those on the fic filter, prepare to be spammed. Anyone who wants on/off of it, speak now!
   
   
2. I am feeling quite bright and shiny today, probably due to some really, really good conversations last night with people, that stretched my brain and made me think, which is always good. *squishes flist* My brain's been feeling like it's been slowly dying lately, and I need to be challenged more and push it a bit harder.
   
   
3. I also have some new icons, which are making me grin. I'm going to add more and switch some more round during the day, to get even more pretties. [/shallow]
   
   
4. The John Sheppard: That Thing We Don't talk or Hug About Meme is so much fun! And still running. And apparently requiring no knowledge of SGA... *nudges you all*
   
   
5. Voting is still open in the tw_fandom_award (and am I the only one who wishes there was room for an 's' on the end of that?). It took me a while to plough through the stories and compose a coherent response, but I think it was worth it. It was also tricky, since half my flist was on it, probably because I met you because you're great writers. So when it said 'don't just vote for your friends' I was thinking 'why not? They're the best?!'
   
   
6. If you haven't already, do check out tw_recs. The various Stargate reccing comms have been so great, it'd be brilliant to have the same kind of thing for Torchwood. So wander along and lend you support :)
   
   
7. I have too many fic deadlines and not enough time, so I guess I'm going to be challenging my brain after all. If my betas disappear from sight, it's because I've buried them in stories...
   
   
8. My social life has gone from non-existent to 'so busy I'm having to put people off for a week'. Awesome :)
   
   
9. I have actually got in touch with someone about writing something for publication. *gulp* Haven't heard back yet, but I'll keep you posted.
   
   
10. I'm researching Zombies. Hee.
    
    
11. I just had a lovely coffee with my completely barking colleagues. They're all as mad as I am. It's great.
    
    
12. I actually managed to do some Pilates last night (I have the Darcey Bussell DVD). While I'm sure I'm doing stuff wrong, it was good to have a go. I'd also cycled home, and I walked in this morning, so I'm feeling all smug and exercised.

13. *FLAILS* I missed the beginning of 'Reset' on Wednesday, so missed the Jack&Martha scene. *FLAILS SOME MORE* Could that get any more perfect? The affection, the understanding, the dialogue, the...everything. AND THEN it gets better, with the Martha&Gwen scene. *FLAILS EVEN MORE* Has to be fic. Has to be fic NOW! *stamps foot*

Hee. I really need to do a proper "Wallop me if I miss these deadlines" post, because I've got challenges and prompts and stuff all over the place, and someone's going to miss out if I miss some of them. But at least I now have an idea for my Big Bang, and Zombie!fic should be fun :) And if I get the chance to write this article, I'll have actual, proper research to do, which has got me all kinds of excited [/babble]

The social life's the really scary one - where did that come from? Why did I not notice it was gone!? It's so nice seeing people :) LJ is great, but meeting my flist in person? Even better!

5. I knew some of them, and clicked some of the links to read the first few paragraphs of each story. If it was good enough to make me want to read on, I reckoned it was pretty good overall. If it wasn't, then I just closed the window. It took me about an hour, but I felt better for having done it :)

9. *g* It's a non-fiction piece, hopefully. We'll see what happens.

5. I agree with you about the process. I also admit to putting a blanket "I chose these because they were good" statement at the top, because that's pretty much always going to be my reason. Doing it, I've never been so grateful to have tabbed browsing - meant I only needed one window...

6. There's not a bad number, but it's going to stay that way until more people get involved. hence the promotion :) Why do we need a Jack/Ianto one specifically? I would have thought one is enough...

13. I just meant the scene in his office. Their expressions, Jack's face, Martha's general awesomeness, how they talk about the Doctor without saying his name, "Just a little bit" and all of that. I just...loved it. But then I'm a sucker for anything that gives me thoughtful!Jack close-ups *is easy* ;)

I found the shortlists for the TW fandom awards consisted of a mix of great fics and some most definitely not so great fics - also a lot of authors I've never even heard of seem to be nominated in every category. Fandom awards inevitably invite massive amounts of wank anyway so I think I'll avoid it like the plague.

The tw_recs comms will die a death like the torchwood_recs omm that was started a few months aho because they're over complicating matters. Simple truth is those who routinely rec fic will continue to do so in their own rec journals and not go over to a comm. I update my recs journal 7/8 stories at a time - I'm not going to go over to a comm and reformat all those recs for posting there. A comm which collated all the different links to those routinely reccing Torchwood on the net would be a much more useful resource.

I felt the same. I didn't vote at all in some categories, and only chose one story in others. I also gave a blanket reason of "because they were good" and didn't care about voting for my friends - I've got some damn good writers on my flist :) Most of the drama seemed to be when the nominations were announced, and there hasn't been too much fuss otherwise, so I'm cautiously hopeful - SGA manages it, and it'd be nice to see other fandoms managing the same.

*shrugs* If no-one goes to the tw_recs comm then I'm sure it will die. But again, other fandoms have them and they work. And if it dies a death, well, never mind. I don't often rec (although I tend to go on sprees :)) so it'd be good for someone like me. We'll see.

*grin* As you can tell, I'm in an optimistic mood today!

Hee. As far as I can see, it doesn't have a UK release date, and zombie movies aren't really my thing (I have a stupidly low tolerance for gore), but the technical research is proving surprisingly interesting. Apparently there's a 'zombie powder'...

Fido, if you eventually find it, is a spoof, so it might work for you. Not only does it spoof on your traditional zombie flick, it takes on 50s TV and newsreels. Zombie as a replacement for Lassie is priceless. Hee!

I too wish that there could have been an 's' on the end of the awards community name. Still, I have been and voted, and ran into exactly the same problem as you.

Hooray for a social life - I'm so glad that you're meeting people in the flesh. It's so much more fun!

As to Reset - YES. I love the way Jack and Martha interact, although I'm a little sad that Tosh didnt get a proper scene with Martha. The rest of them did.

These are all good things. I like the idea of the fandom awards, but they've been a little...random this year. Hopefully if people are more aware of them, they'll be better in the future. But I do find myself craving the kind of organisation they seem to have in the SGA fandom...

Social life is good. I had a lovely lunch with laurab1 today, and have 2 pencilled in for next week. And another for the week after that. Then one for the week after that. I'm quite the social butterfly ;)

That scene just completed the episode for me. It could have stopped there and I would have been happy :D

Hi there *waves* I often see you there too :)

It doesn't feel too scary, as it's just an email at the moment, and it's for a subject I'm confident in. It's going to feel bigger if something actually comes of it!
