hmm, that's interesting - even though I don't know how unusual it is. I've heard of a few published authors writing fanfic (though I'm sure there are more than a few...), and I've also followed one or two young fic writers publish their first novels (nomadicwriter, for example), which was incredibly cool.

It's funny - I tried looking for the fic the bbc article said she wrote, and couldn't find it. I wonder how good it is compared to some of the better fics I've read.
