In which I am smug, if broke
Mar. 15th, 2008 08:23 pmAh, shopping. It has to be said that I am something of a shopaholic, and have to be very, very strict with myself about buying things. This is as much about space as it is money - the library will look after the books for me, and give them back when I want them, ditto with DVDs because really, if I gave free rein to everything I wanted to buy? The other half would have to move out to make room. And there's only just space for him now...
Fortunately, he loves clothes shopping. Really loves it, both for him and me. He offers opinions, actual proper it's the wrong colour for you and it'd be better if the skirt was shorter/longer/the top was lower/higher opinions. No, before you ask, I don't know where I got him from and he's mine, alright? *clings* This means that when we're out shopping together, the debit card goes into meltdown.
Very near us is Bicester Village, which is a designer outlet centre. They also have some high street shops, but most of the shops are so designer I've never heard of them. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
We went to buy him boots and me a jumper. We came back with a dress, a shirt, a skirt, a pair of trousers and a suit. No boots. No jumper.
Oops.
On the plus side, all of the above was reduced, and we have found that we absolutely love Ted Baker's designs. Uh, yes, that is a plus side, honest. When the discounts are this big *cough* My mother always complains that I have a knack for the sales that she doesn't, and so it proved today. My DKNY dress (Original price: £150, outlet price: £80, sale price: £20) turned out to be £11.40 when we got it to the till, and the other half's Ralph Lauren trousers were £10 (not £20 or however much they were originally). Name dropper? Me?
No, actually. Discount amount dropper, yes :) I shall therefore also add that our Ted Baker purchases (his suit, my skirt) were less than half price, and the shirt was £5 in Monsoon.
*happy sigh* We did a lot of laughing, a lot of Seriously, people would wear that?-ing, and Is that a top or a nightie?-ing and There's barely a yard of material and it costs how much??-ing. The rain mostly held off, and I had fun trying on all the pretties that I didn't buy as well. Lovely day, and just what I needed.
*cracks knuckles* Enough play, time to get some serious fic work done. I have a list...

Date: 2008-03-18 03:02 am (UTC)We're group 11. I went ahead and followed other's leads and created a com just for us to talk about anything, if we wanted to do about the challenge.
It is over here http://community.livejournal.com/sgabigbang_11/profile and we can post there all we want. I'll make a welcome post or something and then go from there.
