I'm in a strange, drifty mood today, probably brought about by lack of sleep. Knowing I was knackered, I turned in early, switched the light out at 9.45.

And woke up at 11.15. I'd been having a very odd, very real feeling dream about helping [livejournal.com profile] hllangel build a new house (not going to have to dig deep to find where that came from ;)). The thing was, we were driving up and down the house where the road was, and someone else was rebuilding as well. Except in their front garden, there was a large vicar. Not as in a really fat guy, or a model of a vicar. No, this was a real-looking man (sort of - he looked a bit like Mr Benn) just...sitting there. In their front garden. He freaked me out quite a bit and I woke up feeling just as freaked.

I've been in a bit of a fic funk lately - I barely read anything that wasn't written by my flist and when I look at my own stuff, all I can see are the problems. Beta work has also been minimal (although [livejournal.com profile] fandom_me is both saving and melting my brain, bless her), which is a shame as that usually kicks my own writing into action. It'll pass, but it's seriously annoying. However, my search for fic to record is taking me some wonderful places, and I'm finding stuff that I love, even if I never record it. I've added a whole bunch to my del.icio.us account, and have fallen head over heels for [livejournal.com profile] penknife's stories. We only have a couple of fandoms in common, but she's got the some of the few really good Star Wars stories that I've read, as well as pitch-perfect 1602 fic. And I'm using her(?) journal to find more good stuff. And I was reminded of how small LJ is, when I clicked through to one of her friends, [livejournal.com profile] artaxastra, only to find [livejournal.com profile] smtfhw on her friends-list. Small, small world :) Anyway, the point is: go read her fic, it's great!

Also, if you want to know what librarians really do in their spare time: Video Tour of the SSL in Oxford. Why am I recommending a video of an Oxford library? Because not many of them use 'Voodoo Child' as a soundtrack, or feature a certain familiar time traveller...
