This is mostly a post of randomness but that's never stopped me before...

For anyone in, near or planning to visit London, The Hoxton Hotel are holding one of their £1 room sales tomorrow. They sold 1000 rooms in 11 minutes last year, but you never know your luck. Even if you don't book, I recommend their site for their list of 'things to do' in the area.

Forget iwantoneofthose.com - I want one of these days!

I posted geniune, 100% Torchwood (with a splash of Sic Transit Tempus if you know where to look) fic to [livejournal.com profile] heretoutopia earlier. I'm now engrossed in pirate!fic research, occasionally diverting to LFWS which [livejournal.com profile] miss_zedem got me sorted out on earlier. Great stuff. I've found a book in the basement on "The History of Pirates" and am happily dipping in and out of it for ideas. Added to that, I now know waaaay more about flintlock mechanisms than any sane person should, and I'm loving every minute :)

The Torchwood fic is Movie Night. Gen, Tosh and Ianto after "From Out of the Rain". It was a real challenge writing Tosh, who I've never tackled before, and while I'm not sure I'll do it often, it was a nice change.

Now. Back to sea, me hearties! Yo ho ho etc etc

Huh, that hotel is about 5 minutes walk from my front door. And the circus place about 2 minutes. ;)

Neat! They do evening classes and everything ;D I've always wanted to learn to tightrope walk or swing on a trapeze. It's awesome that it's not just for kids!

A former landlord of mine (ironically, while living in another part of London) used to do trapeze lessons there once a week. He seemed to enjoy it, though the one open night/cabaret thing I went along to was one of the weirdest-yet-dullest evenings on record. I'm amazed the place is still there, given the way that property prices around here have gone through the roof in recent years!

I want to do that! Knife-throwing and fancy roping skills would certainly come in handy at work lately, too. :)

Seems like that's what you said about Teyla not so long ago... *g*

I could probably arrange a Western Skills day without a lot of effort, just by talking to friends of friends. But the circus thing sounds so exotic and cool!

Huh. Now that you mentioned it. I thought the other guy might be related to Ianto, but my brain was just too tired to make the connection properly.
