Meep!

jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Eek - Ariel black and white)

I've just had the drive home from hell. I don't drive very much, so in the dark, in the rain and pulling onto a fast A-road, uphill with almost no slip road was a turn too far and I spent most of the rest of the journey in mild hysterics. No, the other car didn't hit me, but that was down to his excellent driving, not my incompetence. Seriously, never doing that again.

Tell me something soothing?

*jitters*

*hugs and rocks you to calm you*

You arrived alive, so why are you so worried?
Everything is A-okay! =D

Please make it a point to practice driving every day in good weather until you are comfortable. Then you can be more at ease in bad weather. It will come up again and you'll have to function in it. It really will help a lot.

It's just the come-down from the hysterics. Thinking about it, it's also the timing of the drive. I hadn't eaten for a few hours (because of the thing I was at) and that makes me over-react, and maybe means I *shouldn't* drive. I'm not sure I trust myself to make sensible decisions in that state of mind.

Although I don't drive much, I'm normally a confident driver - no other problems, but the angle of the road meant I was totally blinded and the guy sitting on my rear bumper meant I couldn't brake :S Just one of those situations that sets me on edge...

Um...soothing...I'm done with class for the day? And we have a cuddly fun fic to work on? And our kitties like to play with the Christmas tree skirt?

Also...I second takes_a_fairy's suggestion to drive more often--I spent several years using public transit almost exclusively and it made me a very nervous driver for a while--you really do get out of practice and it makes driving when you have to much more hellish.

*snuggles* Those are definitely soothing things :)

I'm driving much more than I used to. With my state of mind over the last year, getting behind the wheel probably would have been a health risk - to me and others! - so yeah, I do need to get back in practice. Just maybe when I'm not alone in the car...

And we do have snuggly fic. This is very true :D

Twenty pounds of furry cat curled up on your lap, with its nose tucked in the crook of your arm, purring like a motor, and a cup of tea steaming at your your other hand. And a computer with your friends and Jack in it right in front of you.

(That's what I find soothing, and I know you don't have the cat, but maybe a warm blanket....)

Glad you made it home. I dislike driving in the dark, and it's ten times worse in the rain.

Very soothing, though. Absolutely right.

I think I could have coped with one or the other, but both was just. Gah!

*wraps you up* It's all over now, and you don't have to go out in it for the remainder of the evening \o/ Plus, as Shep so rightly says, every one you walk away from...

Some things that make me smile, in the hope they'll help you as well:

"I suppose the character is public ground. If you're willing to bring it into people's houses every week, the [fans] are entitled to certain liberties, where ever their imagination is carried by those characters."
--Paul Gross (character Ben Fraser), Executive Producer of due South, quoted in the Toronto Globe & Mail, August 8, 1998
Reason #49528 that Paul Gross is awesome.

A particularly beautiful version of Heart's 'Alone' by the original vocalists.

A clip from 'Men With Brooms', one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time, featuring one of the funniest lines I've heard in a long time - "It's not an omen, it's just a bunch of confused beavers...":

(in case you're wondering, PG is playing a character called Chris who is a bit of a loser. He does it very well :)).

And the infamous Joe Flanigan hair vid - you've probably seen it before, but it makes me giggle every time :D
