And lots of other questions...

[[livejournal.com profile] bau_inbox mods? *waves* Hi. Er. Please don't link to this. I'm just rambling...]

Good morning, lovelies. Possibly? I've spent two days pretty much doing nothing, watching Criminal Minds and trying to stay conscious. I'm still trying to get my head round the idea that I have to do stuff today. Seriously? Sheesh. That's overrated. How's everyone else? Good weekend planned?

Also, Criminal Minds fandom? Seriously, folks. Where's the Gen fic? There's fewer long Gen fics here than there is in SGA. There's fewer than Torchwood. What's with that? Where are the epics of any kind? Where are the plotty casefics? Where's the crack, the comedy, the character studies? Bring out your Gen! Bring out your Gen!

*puts hands on hips* Criminal Minds fandom, get your act together. Don't make me come in there and do it for you.

Ahem. *climbs off soapbox* I feel much better now, so am off to hoover the sheep and dust some cakes. Have a good day, all.

A little of both, I think. People like taking the show apart, but I think they find it a little intimidating to write. It's hard to attempt case-fic without serious, serious research, and the risk of getting it wrong is high. Under those circumstances, I think people default to slash. If people are in a relationship, it's easier to get them to talk about their feelings (in fic, at least) or you go straight for the porn.

I might be selling them short, of course, but it's such a well-written show that attempting to really mimic it (the way you can with Atlantis) is very, very hard.

That makes a lot of sense. The casefics would be complicated. It's harder to just write a snippet or little silly thing and the long things require a lot of forethought and research. House seems a little similar.
