As most of you know, my head is having a strange time at the moment. I'm mostly okay (and people are patient and encouraging when I'm not *smishes flist*), which is progress from last year, but I'm spending a lot of my time looking around and going 'meh'. This is not healthy, and it's not me. Generally in life, I'm more of a Tigger than an Eeyore, and not being able to bounce (or write) properly is disconcerting. And getting annoying.

I'm also convinced that I'm never going to amount to a hill of beans, or something like that, on the basis that I never achieve anything, ever.

I'm wrong, and I'm going to prove it.

This will hopefully be a daily post, but given my attention span, I don't expect it to last for more than a month. Still, it'll be good for me while it lasts. It's going to be a daily post of awesome.

Yes, you read that right. The British are normally terrible about being proud of what they achieved. We get all embarrassed and blushy and 'ah, well, you know'y about it. But for the next month, I'm going to try and post the things I am achieving, the things that I am proud of, the things that make me awesome. Because I want to be awesome. Come join me.

This is not a space for embarrassment or modesty. I *know* you all rock, whether it's because you aced that exam or took that picture that you're proud of or left someone a comment that made them smile or took a walk in the sunshine and felt good or remembered to take your tablets this morning. There are days when keeping breathing for the next minute is a stunning achievement. I want to know about that. Please, tell me.

So what did I achieve today? Not only did I lead the singing in church (congregation of about 200 *gulp*) and mostly sing in tune, I baked nearly 3 dozen cupcakes. Yup, 35 muffins. Should keep us going til Tuesday.

And for extra inspiration: Go here, watch the vid and read the notes.

Come on then, folks. How are you awesome today?

Ooh, and I worked out what I'm making for folks in the handmade meme. I've still got 4 spaces left... Of course, I have some of your addresses anyway *evil grin*

what an awesome idea, and you're right...we often forget/don't like to pat ourselves on the back or celebrate our awesome because we're afraid of being seen as egotistical/full of it.

So, yeah...i like this idea and i think i'll (attempt) to adopt the philosophy over on my non-fic journal. i say attempt because i'm so damn forgetful about posting. *grins* i am, however, excellent at remembering to read my flist :)

I don't consider being self-critical inherently bad except when it stops me seeing the good! We only talk about the bad, really, and I think we all need reminding that we rock as well.

So tell me. How are you awesome today? ;D

You are awesome for making this post.

I am awesome for having finished two commissioned drawings this weekend. Today's that I just did is a portrait of Daisy the Guinea Pig for [livejournal.com profile] daisylily.

It's so adorable. I rock. BTW you can see Daisy on my LJ page if you're curious. 'Cause if I'm bragging, I'm gonna have visuals, dontchyaknow.

But for the next month, I'm going to try and post the things I am achieving, the things that I am proud of, the things that make me awesome. Because I want to be awesome. Come join me.

Damn good idea. For the sake of my sanity at present I will attempt to join in.

So today:

I made a phenomenally tasty looking (we're not eating it till tomorrow) lasagne out of the leftover ragu from last night's dinner.

Went to the gym on a free pass and had a health check that tells me I'm carrying a mere 2% body fat above what would be healthy for me (not bad for someone who was a 19 stone blimp in 2006) and that I am just 2 kg above a healthy weight range.

Made a superbly tasty dinner of potatoes, mushrooms and leeks and rabbit confit.

So Much Awesome!

Heh, my other half is in the kitchen making lasagne for my lunches this week, as well as moussaka. Mmmmmm....

That's great on the health front. 2kg is what? 4lb? That's hardly anything and is about where I am too. You've done so incredibly well in such a short space of time - definitely of the awesome :D

You are always awesome, darling, even when you're having a bad day because you have the courage to talk about it.

Today I have filled out the dreaded federal financial aid form and a college application for the boy. And I kept copies! In a folder where I can find it! His dad is awesome for helping me. :)

You led the singing in church? That's great! I hope it was fun. Group singing is good.

Thank you for the link to the video.

* I have body heat. Therefore, my cats like to be near me.
* I am there for my plants when they need me.

I don't often lead the singing, but people were away so the music director asked me to step in. If I'd known in advance, I would have done my hair in a grown up style instead of pigtail plaits, but it seemed to go okay anyway :)

You are there for all of us when we need you. You are awesome today, so there :P

Aw, I bet your hair was cute! And in no way impeded your ability to competently lead singing. :)

And thank you. :) I was a little lacking in people-related awesomeness yesterday (I'm not saying that's true all the time) and I admit, the plant thing sounds like a bit of a cop-out in the awesomeness challenge, but it's like you say, some days the awesomest thing you can do is get out of bed and keep breathing (and maybe even be optimistic about tomorrow). The way I relate to my plants really is something I like about myself. My mom, for instance, isn't oriented toward thinking about plants, but I am and I think that helps them thrive, and that give me joy. They really did need me yesterday. As a pep talk, maybe not the strongest, but I don't want you to think I was dodging the spirit of it. It's a great idea you've had here and it's one of the things I admire about you!

I'd love to have that ability with plants. Sadly, I don't so much have green fingers as a black thumb :S So it didn't sound like a dodge to me at all! And being optimistic about the next day can be almost impossible sometimes, so that's definitely of the awesome :D

My awesome for today - I just made an incredibly delicious looking potato salad. I've posted all my letters, taken forms in to work, returned overdue library books, and prevented puppydog from ruining my lounge room :) Oh, and I decided I'm going on a little holiday in June!
