Awesomeness Daily #11

Working late is always a mixed blessing. It's quiet so I can get things done, but when it's quiet, I tend to get easily distracted by other things. Y'all are welcome to be that distraction, by the way - I'm here for the next couple of hours if anyone wants to drop in and say hi.
I've been hopeless about replying to comments properly lately, so I'm going to try to catch up with that, as well as doing some posting to comms and emailing that's hanging over me, and trying to get into an SGA frame of mind so I can write my two fics. Anyone got any spare SGA plot bunnies? Or is there something I've mentioned in passing or that you've always wanted to see written but never had the courage to ask? Well, ask away, because I'm all out of ideas here...
This is also today's Awesomeness post. Today I have been awesome because I cycled to work again. It was seriously hard work - much harder than yesterday - but I'm going to cycle home again tonight; otherwise, I'm never going to get fitter and it's always going to be hard work!
I've also been awesome because I've worked hard again and stayed positive about work, even through the boring stuff. My tendency to focus on the interesting means that the dull stuff builds up - this is a habit I'm trying to break myself of, one day at time. Lists using coloured pens definitely help.
Did you realise we hit double figures of awesome yesterday? Lookit! Go us!

Date: 2009-02-25 05:33 pm (UTC)As for plot bunnies, I may have a few for you. Another person on my Flist ask for ideas of shows that JF would be good in. I think the ideas could also be expanded to SGA with emphasis on JT as my OTP. Anyway my ideas were:
Jason Bourne type intrigue with Teyla as the girl that comes to his rescue.
or
Simon Temple aka the Saint
Both characters have traces of what makes JS what he is in SGA...moral ambiguity, emotional and physical whump & physical action figure.
Did this help?

...I have a hold WIP folder I have officially abandoned full of plot bunnies, complete with wacky Ancient tech and fun character hijinks. They are all free to a good home, because I will never finish them.
Um... I'm awesome today because... I ate breakfast? It's a little early still. I've burned through my projects at work, so I'm sort of in a lull at the moment. (Which leads to MUCH alt+tabbing when the boss comes in.)

Date: 2009-02-25 05:50 pm (UTC)Mmmmmm. I've been bad about homework today, but I did write a postcard in Japanese, to a Japanese friend, and then I wrote mails in Japanese to a random Japanese guy I just met, and I also went shopping and cooked supper using super-cheap ingredients. It was tasty. :D But now I have a pile of evil dishes lurking in my kitchen/hallway. Tomorrow's awesome: taking on the dishes! *g*
What else? I biked to school despite heavy clouds threatening rain, which saved me money! And I spoke up in class, and caught up with my LJ comments!
Whoo~! I really do feel accomplished, laying it all out like this. Thanks for giving me a venue where I can shamelessly boost my own self-confidence. ♥

Date: 2009-02-25 05:54 pm (UTC)SGA plot bunnies:
1. (vague so as to not spoil anyone) at the end of the series finale - someone comes to visit Ronon. Maybe some background for this.
2. I'd love to read a fic where John has to handle being replaced as military commander.
3. Where are the Athosians? Are they living on their own or did they have to move to a world with several different cultures since they lost so many of their people to Michael? How are they handling the repercussions? How is Teyla affected by them?
4. Where does Ronon get his clothes especially that cool coat in Doppleganger? Does he recharge the energy cell in his blaster or does he have to find new ones?
5. In Outcast, McKay doesn't seem surprised to learn that Sheppard's father had been living during their first few years on Atlantis. How did he know about Sheppard's family?
6. What really happened between John and his father and brother?
Did any of these help?

Date: 2009-02-25 06:31 pm (UTC)*makes grabby hands* I'm completely stuck for a macguffin at the moment, so will take practically anything! It's just one of those "I don't know where to start!" moments :S
Getting through everything is good! Keep up the alt+tabbing ;D

Date: 2009-02-25 06:32 pm (UTC)*g* You're more than welcome! It makes such a difference, doesn't it? You can feel really rotten, but when you stop and work out what you've actually achieved, it's brilliant :D Go you!

Date: 2009-02-25 06:33 pm (UTC)Much appreciated, thanks. I never know what's going to spark me off, and often it's the last thing I'm expecting, so I shall have a mull on these.
Ta muchly!

Date: 2009-02-25 06:37 pm (UTC)It's been so good for me, having to list positive things every day. My aim right now is to keep it up for a month at least, along with the cycling :D

Date: 2009-02-25 06:39 pm (UTC)*tosses out there* 3D chess game? John has a terrible awful super-secret secret? If there were a law of physics (or life in general) called McKay's law, what would it be?

Date: 2009-02-25 06:54 pm (UTC)Ooh, those are all great ideas, thanks. I'm still hitting stuff with sticks to see what works - something will respond eventually :)

Date: 2009-02-25 07:00 pm (UTC)ETA: Okay, today I am awesome because I submitted something for publication that I should've done last year but couldn't work up the guts for, even though it's tiny.

Date: 2009-02-25 07:05 pm (UTC)Second day of biking awesomeness is awesome-er than the first, because it's *harder*. Go you!
I'm trying to choose an icon to represent awesomeness.
Whoops, how did kitty sandwich get in there? Well, she's cute, I'll leave her. :)

Date: 2009-02-25 07:24 pm (UTC)Today I am awesome because I put some effort into buying presents for someone who doesn't deserve them, and I didn't moan about having to do it :)

Date: 2009-02-25 08:56 pm (UTC)Yeah, I've got 2x90 minute car journeys tomorrow that I am not looking forward to.
Ick, that stinks. Hopefully it'll go by quickly though!

Date: 2009-02-25 09:12 pm (UTC)Oh, and I am awesome today because I wrote and published detailed instructions (twice), explained the instructions with examples in class, explained the instructions with examples in class again, and then explained the instructions with examples to at least half of the students individually - without losing my cool. :)
