jadesfire: Bright yellow flower (Cute - iz ded)

I'm up to SPN 2x15

I can hardly breathe for laughing. Why didn't anyone warn me? I don't need warnings for violence or most other kinds of content (although embarrassment squicks me badly so I tend to spoil myself if it looks like it's going that way. anyhoo...) but apparently I AM GOING TO DIE LAUGHING AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT.

*dies and is ded*

And I haven't even seen the whole episode yet.

*revives to watch*

I was waiting for the hair-pulling to start. *pets them*

What a brilliant episode! My favourite bit was definitely Dean's version of the bar, with Sam's "blah blah blah" *G*

Genius.

Hmmm, perhaps I should actually watch this show... You are clearly a bad influence on me! Shame! Shame! Shame! Oh, speaking of bad influences, I came across a gen SPN/CM fic recced by someone whose recs I generally like. I haven't read it yet (was actually browsing through various rec lists to get a sense of how various folks rec things), but it's supposed to be a solid case-fic sort of thing. Thought of you when I saw the summary. Should I drop you the URL, or should I not add to the distractions?

Ooh, I'm always up for distractions, thanks :) I can always save it - one of my delicious tags is 'unread' for that very purpose!

I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I have. The acting, writing and production is great, and there's a good sense of humour bubbling away underneath (and sometimes coming to the surface!) that means when they do go for the gut punch, it really works.

*g* Yup, I'm a terrible influence :D

You are a terrible influence and just for that see if I hang around here anymore! *goes off in a humph. or possibly a flounce. maybe even a tiff! oooh, or a snit! (I never can remember the difference-- I suppose that's what I get for sleeping through charm school.)* :P

Did you at least have fun reading/listening to fics whilst you were off doing super sekret real life things?

Here's the blurbs on it and the sequel from the author's page:

Defect (http://www.fanfic.otherplaces.net/defect.htm) by kikkimax
AU Crossover with Criminal Minds. Dean is finally captured by the FBI just as his time runs out. Gen. Takes place in the SPN universe at the end of the second season and goes in a different direction than season three. 53.5 kb, word count 39,686. Rated PG for language and adult situations. Warning for character deaths.

Hell, and Back (http://www.fanfic.otherplaces.net/hell.htm)
AU Crossover with Criminal Minds. Sequel to Defect. Dean's having a little trouble adjusting after his return. Sam's going to help if it kills them both. Gen. 499 kb, word count 42,006. Rated PG for language

Those are two awesome fics, but they're highly spoilery for the season two finale! Don't read before you've finished watching the season (fic wouldn't make much sense anyway if you haven't seen it)!

You made me have to go check my DVDs to see which ep you meant, and omg, I SHOULD HAVE JUST KNOWN.

This is, indeed, one of the reasons I love the show so much. It manages to cover hilarious and crushing angst with equal skill, and the boys bring their all to every scene. And even better, it actually takes advantage of the through-lines, and rewards watching in order without making it impossible to pick up odd episodes.

Hee! YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN.

I have this theory that only the shows that do funny properly can do serious properly. Anyone who writes or performs knows that funny is much, much harder than serious, and comedians are generally better at drama than the other way round.

They do comedy absolutely delightfully, although I think the fight in the hotel room was my favourite. I was waiting for the hair-pulling to begin :D

That is such an awesome episode.
