I need to clear these out more often. And these aren't even all of them. Click the cuts at your own risk.

Also, people who expressed interest in my librarianship blog (which is about as exciting as it sounds right now, but still), drop me a message or email and I'll send you the link. Once I've replied to the 80 other emails that I've labelled 'pending' in gmail *eyes account* This could take a while.

Oh, and can anyone direct me to a good place for SPN icons? My usual art-fu has deserted me somewhat...

Anyway, enough blather. On to the links!

Writing:

This may be my new favourite blog: Dr Johnson's Dictionary

The Dictionary of American Regional English is almost complete

The things they find in safe deposit boxes. I thought some of these might prove good sources of inspiration.

The Golden Anniversary of Strunk and White

How to write a good book review. Very much about being bolder with the process and content of reviewing a book.

Pretties:

I'm sure you all saw this, but just in case Teens capture images of space with a £56 camera and a balloon.

Steampunk Laptop!

Okay, not so much pretty as 'fun' but: It's fake fur! With lights!

I want to live here!. A grown-up tree-house or a work of art? Incredibly design and architecture.

Beautiful and intricate salt-sculptures by Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto

How pictures from the first moon landings were saved. You would think they would have been loved and cherished and preserved. You would be wrong.

A blog of an Antarctic Voyage with absolutely stunning pictures. Penguins!

Because I know some of you love it, A pulp art photo gallery.

Jessica Rabbit Untooned, along with other cartoon characters looking strangely lifelike.

After the financial crisis is over, how some corporate logos might end up being re-designed.

For the professional artists on my flist: The Highlights is an online journal about the profession.

Also, an incredible video of how you paint with your iPhone

Time-wasters:

Watch plants grow!

Just in case you guys don't have enough games to play, here's another world-builder

How to build your own secret passage.

Das Kapital is turned into a Chinese musical. Yup, really.

There's just one small problem with the gift President Obama gave Gordon Brown…. Pesky DRM.

And other things:

Webkruz is an interesting search engine that gives you previews of the websites it finds, as well as suggesting categories to you. My search for 'Llamas' turned up some good results and organised them in an intuitive manner. Similarly Addictomatic searches for content in all kinds of places and gives you the latest on any subject. Probably good for news addicts or if you're looking into something current, and it certainly turns up some interesting stuff.

Women are more avid readers than men. We finish more of the books we start, apparently, although I think this may just mean I have a male-type brain…

Sorry, CSI fans, High-tech forensic perfection is a television fantasy

Publishers making novels available through Scribd

Stephen Hawkings and his daughter have written a children's book. No, really.

Do you know where your tomatoes come from?

Great sex strikes through history. I'm not sure whether this is the ultimate expression or the antithesis of "Make Love Not War" but it's an interesting piece.

Women bloggers face hostility online. This is an interesting one. Since this, my primary blog, is in a fannish and traditionally female-friendly space, it's something of a different experience to the wider blogosphere.

Do black dogs have less change of being adopted?

A mind-boggling map of the current network of science research

How do we know what we know? An in-depth guide to how scientific research works.

Antipodal location for any spot on the globe. And if you could build a tunnel, you'd get there in 42 minutes.
This Roman tunnel, on the other hand, took 100 years to build and is 100km long!

The Internet changes the way your brain works

And finally:

Dead at your age.com Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Das Kapital is turned into a Chinese musical. Yup, really.

You can't make me go... I read "Das Kapital" for my history degree... in German... it was painful and dull and I never want to read it again. I certainly doubt it would be improved by being set to music. The only thing worse was having to read "Mein Kampf" as well!!!

*giggle* Fortunately, I think it's only going to be on in China, so the rest of us will be spared. It's wonderfully cracky, though - I suspect it will have to be seen to be believed!

I love your linkspam posts.

I gotta say, that dictionary definition wouldn't really have helped me much, although I think flapdragon might be my new favorite word, even if I'm not sure what it means

I know where the best crack is kept, and am prepared to trawl through pages of RSS feeds for you guys :)

Aren't they great words, though! I love that kind of thing, even if I can't work them into every day conversation. Yet...

Oh, god, I SWORE I'd never post about politics with this account because it only leads to wank, but the DVD thing has made it SO HARD to keep my mouth shut...

*snort* I think the article has more to say about DRM than politics. It's just one of those "uh, this is a bit awkward" things.

Although where Gordon Brown would find the time to watch all those films is beyond me...

I'll just say that Gordon Brown gave a gift which was well-thought-out, generous, and historically significant. And I'll leave it at that.

(Although I will agree with one of the commenters there, and say that this highlights the need for CHANGE in "region incompatibility"...)
