Thanks to meanderings around the blogosphere, I have managed to seriously and deeply upset myself, to the "I'm so angry I'm in tears and can't see my monitor" point. Honestly, I should know better by now. Also, yes, there is a long angsty post about it, but it's staying private for now.

While I think of it, last call for anyone who wants to watch me flail my way through my Big Bang before the deadline. I would say it's 15k in 10 days, except that I can see quite clearly the shape of it in my head and it's more like 30k in 10 days. Remind me why I failed at NaNoWriMo? Anyhoo, if you want to see a sprint writer in action, drop me a comment.

Nope, that's still not making me feel better. If I give you some fun links, will you tell me something happy? Music, stories, jokes, pictures - I'll take anything right now.

*bribes you with links*

With Dreamwidth in so many posts and everyone trying to decide what to call themselves, this article seemed all-too appropriate. Although it's more about Caitlin Moran's fear of fish than Sainsbury's recent fish-naming policy.

So you think your library books are overdue? With book in hand Wednesday, the American walked into the Lyn Heritage Place Museum with the five-inch thick Webster's Dictionary his great uncle Mutt failed to return just before the turn of the century.

Kate. Katharine Hepburn is my heroine, so I intend to listen to this asap.

Uncomfortable Plot Summaries. Not all of these are funny, but the Lord of the Rings one made me snort. As did the Doctor Who one. Er. Spoilers, I guess, for all sorts of famous films...

Strip and Knit in Style was in 4th place. Old news, but still funny.

I'm sorry about the upset. I'll bet that Kate Hepburn show is great, since Dick Cavett's interviews were always the best. I remember going out and buying her autobiography when it first came out, and I don't read autobiographies!

Also, those uncomfortable plot summaries are something else.

I should really know better than to roam the internet at large... *sigh*

Ooh, that's worth knowing about the autobiography. I've heard a few interviews with her and just love her more every time. Thanks :)

Hee, aren't they? Some are so funny, while others are just o.O

I'd like to see the process a sprint writer goes through. Maybe it'll inspire me.

I hate to have to drop out of my own big bang (and I'm not officially doing it yet), but with the move I doubt I'm going to be able to do it myself. I will, however, watch yours unfold with great interest. :)

*G*

The sad part is that I've put a LOT of effort into actually outlining the thing, and I *want* to write it, but most likely there's no way it's going to get done before the deadline. I love my fic, but dont' think I can get it done.

frustrating! But good luck to you!

I'm...getting there. I don't mind articles about how I should do things differently or even how I should think differently. It's the ones that tell me how to feel differently that upset me. *sigh* I'll get over myself eventually...

Aren't the costumes awesome! So much hard work but worth it! And I definitely thought of you when I saw the plasma article - hope you enjoy :D

An article telling you how to feel doesn't even make sense. Feelings are the one thing we really can't control.

The plasma article is just... mind-blowing. I haven't finished reading it yet (trying to do too many things at once!) but it's incredible. I'll probably gush and share it on my Lj when I'm finished :0)

I love writing process posts, so the sprint writer thing sounds completely fascinating! (Despite not even being in that fandom. :D)

And I'm sorry about the internet ... yeah, it kinda does that to people. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon!

Hee, cool! When [livejournal.com profile] heretoutopia friends you, don't worry, it's just me ;)

My flist is a much safer place to be - I really object to being told how I *should* feel about things. We all have our trigger points, I guess...

So you think your library books are overdue?
My first thought - and I still haven't clicked the link but I am going to, oh yes - was less than a decade isn't too bad BUT I'm guessing that's the wrong turn of the century?

Happy thing: A pair of gold finches seem to be setting up home in the hawthorn hedge outside my living room window.

And I am willing to put myself through the torture of watching a sprint writer do her thing, count me in.

*grin* Yup. It's a great article.

Ooh, birdies! One of the lovely things about where we live is all the birds we get. There are blackbirds nesting in the bushes outside our front door, and the ducks like to hide in there and jump out when you pass :D

Awesome, thanks. I'd better set up this filter and get going!

My mum currently has a Great Tit family in the wall of her house - one year I am going to remember early enough and put a box over the top of the hole before they can take up residence!

Our hedge really need trimming but one of my many excuses for not doing it is the birds that visit on a regular basis.

Did you see Susan Boyle singing on Britain's Got Talent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY)? That cheered me up immensely. (Made me cry a little too...)

*hugs, and sends chocolate* Sorry the 'net got you upset.

I'd like to see a sprint writer in action... though I'm starting to get to a point where I need to push my own big bang story if I'm going to get that first draft done. Should be entertaining, and maybe watching someone else sprint to the deadline will make me get there. *pokes at her muses*

That article about the overdue dictionary is really nifty too. I'll bet it's a lovely looking book.

When I was a kid I accidentally kept a book out for six months. My grandmother the head librarian was quite firm that I should pay the entire fine (I believe my mother paid it and then took it out of my allowance over several months).

I always have an embarrassing number of books overdue, considering I'm a librarian. It's like some switch trips in my head when I go in. All I can see are FREE BOOKS and I have to have all of them RIGHT NOW.

It's an addiction, I swear ;)
