COMING UP AFTER THE NEWS:

Mild-mannered librarian throws computer out of window in shocking Linux-related outburst. No sparrows were harmed, although a duck was slightly stunned and had to be brought to the bank for first aid. The computer sank into the river without trace, which the librarian noted was just as well since if it did show its case again, she couldn't be held responsible for her actions.

As they were doing up the straps on her straitjacket to take her away, she was heard muttering, "it said it couldn't install firefox and it didn't install firefox because it didn't have the gecko package and nothing at all was happening and I could find the thing about the gecko on bugzilla only there was nothing about where to find the gecko and I just right-clicked and then I clicked on the icon and then I had Firefox only not the Firefox I wanted it was the previous version of Firefox that I know I uninstalled how the hell did it get back on there?"

LATER:

We speak to the gecko.

Wanting to throw computers out of the window is usually my mother's thing, but I'm thinking it might be hereditary.

Damn machine. It is NOT going to beat me.

I won't give it the satisfaction

You've done a lot more with Linux than I've been able to. I sympathize with it being a... let's say pain, since the news is watching and all.

I was doing just fine until a few days ago, but I'm going to have to give in and ask for help at this point because it's gone waaaaay beyond my copytyping ;)

WHY DO THEY MAKE IT SO DIFFICULT??? WHY???

I know that I am not alone when there are emoticons for these things...

Personally, I think there's a certain elegant simplicity about the third one ;)

I'm insanely glad my brother talked me out of buying one. The Linux would have got me a whole ward in a mental health unit, not just a bed!

hope you can get it sorted out

*hugs*
Nate

PS you made me giggle.

Um.

...would you like a cup of tea? ♥

(Ahhhhh, I feel your pain - I love running open source, but the making things work can occasionally break your mind into teeny tiny pieces. Which is one of the reasons I'm on Windows now. I kind of needed my mind! So I admire you for sticking with it. ♥)
