I just opened up [community profile] bringthehappy/[livejournal.com profile] bringthehappy for prompts.

PLEASE GO LEAVE PROMPTS OR I'M GOING TO LOOK LIKE BILLY NO MATES.

Also, where should I be promoting this? I can figure out the Whoniverse, SPN and SGA newsletters, as well as the MUNCLE one, but does anyone have any other suggestions? What about Star Trek? Or small fandoms? Help!

Also also, does anyone have any pretties for me? I like pretties and have no ability to make them myself. Icons, buttons, banners, all welcome. I need one for the Dreamwidth comm (you've got a hard act to follow with [livejournal.com profile] laurab1's, I tell you) and as many as you can give me for people to use to promote this thing. It's going to be kind of dull if no one turns up...

I used to know some of the HP newsletters but I haven't been active there in ages. A quick interest search on LJ comms might get you some of them, though.
Oh, and [community profile] singularity for Star Trek on DW.

I can help with Star Wars and Harry Potter newsletters, if you can provide text.

And Sentinel, SG-1, Once a Thief and Pet Shop of Horrors, now that I think of it. Oh, and Good Omens.

Oh wow, that would be awesome, thanks! That's quite the list - we had a great roll-call of small fandoms last year, so it'd be great to represent them as well.

Text:

[livejournal.com profile] bringthehappy is a multi-fandom fic fest unashamedly requesting happy stories. We aim to uplift, to cheer and to make the world a happier place. Bring us your happy-ending angst, your crack, your comedies and your romances. All fandoms, all ratings, all genres welcome.

More details here (Dreamwidth) (http://bringthehappy.dreamwidth.org/816.html) and here (Livejournal) (http://community.livejournal.com/bringthehappy/17568.html)

Is that what you need?

Have pimped like mad. I'm just hoping my fandoms are distinct enough that I don't have people coming after me with pitchforks. [g]

Hee. Might also be worth editing it so people don't give pairing smushings (or whatever the term is) - Jared/Jenson rather than J2 etc :) Just a thought.

Eh, not too worried about that one - I can translate. that's what "find and replace" is for. Other smushings, I'll just ask them to clarify - that's why I've given myself 5 days to compile the list!

*g* I think my favorite is 'Porne'...

(Parrish/Lorne, in case you were wondering :))

Have pimped on dS noticeboard - I'm not an active enough member of NCIS fandom to feel comfortable pimping over there, sorry (they scare me a little). But I'll mention it in my journal, and hopefully word will get round - my flist are pretty good for pimping challenges :)

That is because both you and they are awesome :D That smush name? Not so much o.O

Thanks, hon. The first few hours after you put these things up are always the most nerve-wracking...

Am planning to leave prompts, but where do we stand regarding TW s3? Was hoping to use some of the characters/situations from there (as that's where my bunnies are gnawing right now) but it doesn't start on BBCA until next week and I don't want to assume that anyone who would care has already seen it via the internet fairies....

Hmmm. I might ask folks who want to write Children of Earth fic to link to their journal using a non-spoilery link. That should do the trick, I think.

Does that work for you?

Hmm, I'd rather not put anything into my journal until after it's been betaed and polished and all the rest, which is a bit of a pain with commentfic that I might or might not work up into a "real" fic at a later date. Hmm. Bugger.

Also, what about spoilery prompts? "Torchwood; Gwen/Rhys; baby" would seem to be an obvious one to go for, but also giving the game away a bit! And some folks can get upset about even giving new character names....

I suppose the thing to do here is consider if it's okay to use prompts from things that have aired in the US but not in the UK, and take it from there. :) If the Internet Fairies are acceptable in one direction, they should be in the other!

If US folk are staying online and unspoiled then I want to know how! But yes, that's a good assumption to make. Most series aren't on air right now, but for the ones that are, I think people will expect a lack of spoilers.

Hmmm...the other thing you could do is put the whole lot under the text-span-color thing that people have been using for warnings and spoilers. The code is floating around, so I'll put it in the 'writing guidelines' post. That should be a good comprimise :)

I was going to group the spoilery prompts together and do the same with them, so that's probably an overall solution to the problem.

Bless you and your wonderful brain :D

I'm looking for little promo banners that people can put in their journals. Any fandoms/generic, happy pictures, about 100x200 or 200x300 or icon-sized. Nothing fancy, nothing too big.

You're awesomesauce, hon, thanks!

Do you remember which one you pimped to? I think I would recommend [livejournal.com profile] primeval_itv or [livejournal.com profile] primeval_fanfic, but I'm sure there are others (big list here if it helps)

OT, I've been thinking about pimping phrases.org.uk to my non-British friends, but then I figure everybody already knows about it. For instance, Billy no mates. I was interested to see it's a relatively new thing.

Edited twice because haste is not my friend, sorry!

I ended up not promoting it anywhere - the weekend got away from me, and we've got exactly a gazillion prompts anyway. My current plan is to trot round once we're ready to accept fic and promote it then, so please do leave some Primeval prompts before Wednesday!

Ooh, that's an interesting site - definitely mention it to people, cos I haven't seen it before!
