If anyone has any tried and tested non-nauseating food, I'd love to hear suggestions. Every time I eat at the moment, I end feeling incredibly sick, and at the moment, I feel like I've got a golf ball stuck in my throat.

Shockingly, I'm not at work, and have spent the day curled up in bed or asleep. I *never* sleep all morning unless I'm actually sick, so this has gone from 'slight stomach upset' to 'tummy bug', at least in my head, which gives me permission to be ill. Which makes sense to me, at lest.

So yes, if anyone has suggestions for food I could eat without making myself really ill, I'd appreciate. Otherwise, I'll be under a blanket watching Doctor Who and trying to pretend I don't feel like I'm about to throw up :S

*hugs*

I find rice and fishfingers are generally good, or bread and jam.

Or not eat anything until tomorrow.

Yeah, unfortunately, if I don't eat for more than 4-5 hours, I have a tendency for my lips to go blue right before I pass out. And that's not fun ;)

I hadn't thought of fishfingers, but now I REALLY want them. And there's some rice in the fridge from the other night... But yes, fishfingers sounds good *texts J* ;)

Thanks

Fainting plus feeling sick = not good!

And you're welcome :)

The only thing I can manage when I'm feeling sick is a banana, for some strange reason.

I managed an apple, but I'm not sure about bananananas. The spelling or the eating. ;)

Still, since *everything* is making me feel sick right now, I'm leaning towards eating whatever I want, as I may as well enjoy it beforehand. I'm not saying it's a good strategy, but it's an option...

I can absolutely see how this strategy would be sensible.

I hope you feel better soon.

Fruit usually works for me - a crisp autumn apple, for example. And tea! Though that's not food, is it?

Get better soon!! *hugs*

*grin* I think tea counts as its own food group. I'm sticking to peppermint for the time being, which does seem to be helping.

Thank you!

The standard stomach-flu diet for children is bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. It's pretty good for adults too, if you cook the rice in a little chicken broth.

Saltine crackers and some kind of non-caffeinated soda (usually gingerale or lemon-lime) are standard for the tummy ickies at my house. Or toast with just a tiny smidge of butter if you don't have saltines.

Peppermint tea is a great choice, since it's a traditional stomach soother. I hope you feel better soon.

Bananas are proving a bad plan, as is toast, but rice is good, as is sugar. I'm sort of experimenting right now and desperately hoping it's a bug not the onset of food intolerence :S

You were spot on about the soda - lemonade has been great - and I'm going to have some creole sauce later (mostly tomatoes and coriander). Most things are making me feel ill, so I may as well eat things I enjoy beforehand. I'm not saying it's good logic, but it's better than not eating!

Thank you :)

What Corgigirl said -- it's the same at our house. When I'm nauseated, the only thing I can eat is saltine crackers with warm ginger ale, then as I'm feeling better, maybe dry toast, applesauce, and bullion. Definitely nothing dairy based, oily (I would actually say no to butter) or acidic like citrus.

Ginger tea is excellent for nausea (it goes well blended with peppermint and green tea), and my mom found she could eat crystallized ginger as well. (It's ginger root that's coated with sugar, basically.)

::pets you:: Feel better soon!

I usually take small bites of saltine crackers or a piece of dry bread when I'm feeling ill. Mint tea is also helpful for me, which I see you've tried!

I hope you're feeling better soon.

I find ready salted crisps to be edible, even when I'm ill. They were about the only thing I used to be able to eat in the car.

Get better soon, okay? *hugs*

Drink Indian tonic water - the quinine gets rid of the nausea, so you can eat something. Then yes, something like plain toast, plain crackers (the kind with salt to keep your sodium levels balanced), dry cereal... As Rusty said, nothing oily, fatty, dairy or acidic, and little and often.

*hugs*

Watery plain rice congee. Just put some plain rice into pot, add loads of water and boil till the rice is cooked to the consistency you wanted.

After that, I sometimes add vegiemite to it for a bit of taste if I felt like having something salty.

Vegiemite on toast sometimes work as well, but I tend to stick with rice congee.

Chicken noodle soup. But not Cream of chicken soup as that just makes an icky stomach ickier.

I'll agree with the fish fingers too. And rice.
