So, did anyone else start the week by trying to kill themselves by smoke inhalation? No? Pbbbbbbt, guys, try to keep up.
Okay, so what really happened is that instead of turning on the hob under my porridge, I turned on the hob under my electronic scales. Normally, I turn on the hob and go away to get dressed, since my porridge is then done by the time I get back. This morning, since the flat was cold, I decided to get dressed in the living room where the heater is. That turned out to be a good decision, because when the scales started to make popping noises, I was right there.
Of course, an even better idea would have been to not melt them in the first place, but hey, you can't have everything.
We're both fine, although I'm a little nauseious from the fumes. Luckily, since I'm married to a chemist, he looked at the glass top of our cooker and said "I'll get a solvent from the lab to get that off." He has his uses ;)
ION, apparently crocheted toys are desirable items, since there's a small bidding war going on over at my
help_haiti thread. Slightly more nerver-wrackingly, the bidding for my writing also went up over the weekend. *gulp*
The bidding currently stands at $15 for a blanket/shawl or hat/scarf/mitten set, and an incredible $35 for a crocheted toy set. Both auctions are here.
For my writing, the current price is $20, and the thread is here.
I'm having photo issues, since I'm not used to Flickr yet, but I'll upload some examples of my work as soon as I beat it into submission.
I suppose I should probably do some work before that, though. Hope y'all had a good weekend and good luck with your Mondays!

Not specifically but I keep doing something simialr myself. we have an electric hob (which i hate with a passion) I randomly occasionally turn on the wrong hob and scorch more of the pictures off my hob covers (which stinks)
OOh you on flikr.. I am Carlotta_von_uberwald..:)

I only use flickr for my knitting pics, I'm afraid, and only then because it's compatible with Ravelry's software. I'm aware that it can be a community, but wouldn't even know where to start!

I haven't been paying attention to the auction - things like that make me uncomfortable for reasons too numerous and boring to go into here - but yay for people fighting over you! Good to see your awesomeness being recognised :)
My weekend was good, although I've hit a 'I suck' wall with my fic-writing. I have until mid-week to stop being rubbish, although if I want you or anyone else to beta, realistically I have until tomorrow /o\ Perhaps a shower will help...

Oh hon *hugs you* Seriously, the story is GOOD, and worth chasing. You're one of the few people I know who can do properly sweet and punchy without tripping into saccharine and emo. *makes encouraging noises* I'm around until 2.30ish, then here on and off from then. Let me know if you need me!

Luckily that was also the year I had asked my family to buy ME a new dinner service for our house so all my new plates got used instead (I had to have them brought over then unwrap them and wash them before we could eat).
Can't he bring something home to get rid of the smell as well?

Hopefully lots of fresh air and some odour neutraliser should do the trick with the smell. Otherwise, I'll be looking for some old wives' remedies - they usually work :)

Cut onion on a saucer seems to work with paint. Though, of course, then you have to find something to get rid of the smell of onion.

I was really wondering if there's any way to post pictures from there to here, so that I can have multiple photos in one LJ-post. I can see how to post directly using the Flickr client, but really wanted to put a few pictures in.
I can use LJ's own photo manager, or photobucket, but since they're already in Flickr (since that's what Ravelry talks to), I was hoping not to have to reload them elsewhere.
Thanks!

Also, I learned a new UK English term just now. I'd never heard "hob" before; in the U.S. that's a burner.
For LJ purposes I just upload photos directly to my journal. Have you tried that?

Normally I use photobucket or lj but since these are already in flickr, I'm hoping to cut corners. That almost never works but there's no harm in asking ;-)

I'm so glad that people are bidding for your crochet and writing skills. You're more than worth it, and the people it's going to are worth it.

Thanks, hon. I'm chuffed to bits and mildly terrified all at the same time!

By the way, have you seen my new car? I'm a little bit in love with it.
Oh, and tinypic is a very good free image host. It's what I'm using at the moment, since photobucket tends to run out of bandwidth at a moment's notice.
