Happy Mondays, people. Well. Possibly.

I'm absolutely knackered owing to lack of sleep owing to constant anxiety dreams. This is what happens when you try to voluntarily go into massive debt.

Translation: Yes, we put an offer on the flat. No, we don't know whether it'll be accepted or not. Yes, I'm already doing my best headless chicken impression.

Other than that, and actually including that, we had a good weekend. Mum's 60th birthday lunch went off without a hitch, and everyone got on really well, considering most people only had her in common. Everyone was very well-behaved and slightly tearful, which was lovely. Yesterday, we mostly pottered and talked (and talked) about the flat to J's parents, trying to get our heads straight about it, without getting our hopes up too much. It's a fine line.

ION, [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon starts today, and there are lots of great prompts for fic and art. From the User Info: "Half a Moon is a fourteen day multifandom challenge celebrating female characters, which will run from February 1 through Valentine's Day." I wrote a few ficlets for it last year, and it's brilliant to see so many stories about the awesome women from our fandoms in one place.

Other than that, life goes on. We ate good food, both at the lunch and at home (Rick Stein's new recipe book rocks), I'm making good progress on my crochet projects, and once I find the last 10 minutes of "The End of Time" (don't ask, but there was yelling involved. in the staff room. with my boss there), I will be all caught up on Doctor Who. Life could be worse :)

What about you lot? Everyone have a good weekend?

OOh, have you got snow? We've only got a heavy frost (thank goodness)!

There's a very, very light dusting pretty much everywhere here, but it's enough to make the pavements slippery when it melts and re-freezes!

So pretty much the same effect as the heavy frost then, for getting about! *g*

Nah, it always snows in February! The year I was born apparently there was several feet of snow on the ground, and many a year I had to either cancel a birthday party or provide friends with towels and/or a place to stay because the weather was atrocious. Of course, it won't do it this year because I'm in Plymouth, but I feel better knowing elsewhere in the country the tradition is being upheld :)

Weekend was good :) We bought lots of stuff we didn't really need, a couple of things we did, and it was mainly sunny (apart from a couple of hours yesterday in which every weather type attempted to make itself known in Plymouth :S). Not too shabby at all...

Maybe it always snows oop north, but us soft southerners aren't used to it ;) There was snow in London when I was very small, but the first time I really encountered it was at the age of 22 in Oxford! It's very pretty, and I love how there are shadow lines in it - it's melted where the sun shines, but now in the shade. Very pretty :)

*grin* That sounds like a great weekend. I don't really need anything either at the moment, and therefore have to keep reminding myself not to buy more yarn. I'm seriously running out of storage room...

Snow is fab :) One of my friends used to live at the highest point in Bradford - 1100 feet above sea level - and they'd have snow on the ground into April.

Yarn is pretty and makes useful and pretty things. Like bags in which to store yarn, for example ;)

I did headless chicken over *new carpet* for our stairs and landing last week. I think you have far better reason.

Glad you had a good weekend *snuggles*

You send calming thoughts and a picture of Sheppard's groin. I'm not sure these two are compatible ;D

I'm not sure what it says about you that you knew it was Sheppard's groin *gigglesnorts*.

Also, thigh holsters FTW :)

Generally I think we are more likely to have snow in February than January - this year's big snow was both unusually heavy and unusually early.

Anyway, this is proper snow - enough to make everything look pretty but not enough to cause serious inconvenience to anyone!

I think I'm just not used to snow in general - there was never much in London growing up!

Summertown was slippery this morning, but that was ice rather than snow. And it is very pretty :)

We have very heavy frost in Cov, and i am frozen solid.. i think a trip to Go-outdoors will be in order for more heavy duty fleeces.

My brother just moved into his first "owned" house. given the stress of it all I am surprised that his hair hasn't fallen out.:) I hope it goes as well as it gan go.

Had a very successful weekend (attended Chevron 7.4 in B'ham) but physically paying for it as dodgy knee and dodgy hip has joined forces with "war wound" (aka the work related back injury I suffered a number of years back which like to reoccur every now and then)to give me pain:). and the cold isn't helping. I need more layers. :D

Eep, it definitely sounds like more layers are in order. Nothing beats that snuggled up feeling after you've been chilly.

Thanks - it's going to be a drawn out process, I think. I'll keep everyone posted!

Keeping fingers crossed for you!

*long, calming hug*

I'm so glad February is here - January was a messy month. Messy and unproductive. So today I spent three hours cleaning my tiny apartment, doing all the laundry and washing all the dishes and then I drew something. 2010 can finally get started for real around here now! \o/

Rick Stein's new recipe book rocks

Would that be the Far Eastern Odyssey one? I love that book - it has so many good recipes in it.

Had a mixed weekend...fri/sat sucked in so much of having the cold of doom, Sunday it started to ease up though, which is of the good... this combined with watching the last 5 eps of SGA S5 meant that Sun made up for the previous couple of days. lol. I am hoping this week will be much better than last.

Good luck with the flat. I take it we'll hear details if it all comes off? Have a nekkid Colby for distraction ;)

Oooh, best of luck with the flat!

Well, on Monday I wore trousers that were a bit too long and had a flare at the cuffs-- but at least I can report that while I may have stumbled over my trousers I did not trip on them, so I'm counting that as victory!

I've also evidently managed to find words that make sense to other people this past weekend, which is a marked improvement of a week or so ago where I felt like my head was full of cotton wool which was smothering my thoughts.

Hmmmm, upon reflection I think I've had a good past few days :) Here's hoping good days are contagious over the internet...
