Snowflake Challenge - Day 4
Jan. 4th, 2013 10:57 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Today's challenge is hard for someone who hasn't really interacted with fandom for a while, but my brain is starting to get going with all the prompts and ideas and requests out there, so here's my stab at it:
Day 4: In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.
My list
~ Recs. I've been out of the loop for so long that I'm feeling ridiculously out of touch and I'm not even sure I remember how this thing called fandom works. But I know I'm head over heels for Merlin at the moment and would love some recs. Not just for fic (although if you can point me at the good Gen I will love you forever), but for podfic, communities, memes, challenges. Anything to help me get back in the swing of it.
~ Gen Podfic. I've pretty much exhausted the Merlin section of the archive, and I'm not sure where to go next. Who do you like listening to, and where do I find them? Or is there something you want podficced? My story or someone else's, fandom irrelevant, I'll try anything (once :)).
~ Fanmixes. A list of tracks is fine - I'm pretty good at tracking things down - but I've found some great music in the past listening to fanmixes. Again, for anything is good, or links to previously made ones. As you might be able to tell, I'm trying to blow the cobwebs out of my brain at the moment, and all help will be gratefully received.
For my part, I'm off tomake wishes come true see if I can fill any fannish wishes for others. I'm still too skittish to ask for prompts, but when people are already offering them, it's hard to resist.
fandom_stocking, here I come :)

Date: 2013-01-04 04:51 pm (UTC)Lies, Misdirection, and Terrible Truth, an Avengers Movie-verse/Mythology fanmix that goes with my series of the same title (but does not need to be read to enjoy the mix). :)
May actually go track down some of the cover art I did with some older ones, and put them up on my website so I have proper, permanent links of them to share.

Date: 2013-01-08 04:12 am (UTC)I keep picking up new music from shows and from other people, and then hunting down more by artists I like. And I like sharing things I like with other people. :)

Date: 2013-01-04 05:23 pm (UTC)frogspace keeps my favorite recs list. It's got all the fandom classics on it, and it's HUGE and divided into AUs and canon fics. It's also in German, but zie's got great taste, and all the summaries are in English. Zie also lists dates for most of hir fic recs, which is great, because you can look for 2008/2009/2010 ones and stick to things that were written in the early seasons if you're still working your way through the series! S1 and S2 Merlin fic is delightful, because it's so light and fun.
marguerite_26 also keeps some recs list, including a Gwaine list, a rarepairs list, and a Bradley/Colin list if you're interested in those.
kroki_refur has written the best Merlin gen I know of, and lots of it. It's all very much in the spirit of the show: adventures and friendship. Plus, they seem to speak Gaelic, so there's all kinds of cool stuff in their stories to do with that?
As for communities, I dunno if you're interested in LJ comms, but those are the ones I know about, so there's merlinreversebb, which is currently looking for pinch hitters, and paperlegends is the main Merlin fandom big bang. It'll go up the first of March, and it needs cheerleaders, betas, and artists in addition to writers! (Also, definitely go check out the fics there from past years!) merlin_holidays is the holiday fic exchange, and it's got lots of great fics from this year and years past. Oh, and if you start writing Merlin fic, there's an active betas comm: merlin_betas.
<3 <3 Welcome to the fandom!!!
