Please don't think from the subject line that I'm having a "ARGH ALL MY WORDS SUCK" thing, which happens from time to time but not today. That's mostly because Adventures in Fandom has lead to reading some truly dire Bad!Fic, and while I do re-read most of my stuff and go 'meh', very little of it actually makes me wince.
But I digress.
Actually, I mostly seem to be made up of digressions at the moment, as I have the attention span of a hyperactive butterfly, and the urge to write all the fic under the sun. I'm signed up to
merlin_redux, with a prompt that I love the look of and more plot bunnies that I know what to do with - there's a writing "oh good grief help me!" post coming, but I'll save that for later. It'll include the dozen plot bunnies I also have for
paperlegends. Bet you're really looking forward to it now.
No, at the moment I feel like a bad writer because I'm struggling to write anything at all and what I want to do is throw myself on my flist's mercy and ask for prompts. But I don't want to do that, because I can't guarantee to fill them, and I'm also scared no one will ask for anything because I haven't written for so, and the only thing worse than not writing for someone's prompt is not getting any at all. My insecurities, let me show you them. I'm going to dip into some Merlin comms and see what I can pick up, and maybe Fandom Stocking as well, on the basis that you never know what you might find.
In the meantime, I've also signed up for The Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology, now in its third year for
halfamoon. I've got some of my own fic I can record, but what I'm really looking for is:
~ Awesome fic with women as central characters
~ In a fandom I know
~ At less than 1500 words
I'm mining my flist and the AO3 as best I can, but there's a lot of fic out there and I only have about a week to record, edit and upload. So if any of you have fic that meets that description and that you'd let me podfic, please drop me a link. I can manage about 5-8, I reckon.
Thank you! Have a lizard with a cane!

But I digress.

Date: 2013-02-01 07:54 am (UTC)Any that you want to give a try, I've a bit of a list of ones I'm sure about fitting at least two of the three criteria (knowledge of the fandoms involved is where I'm uncertain). I did skip some, either in the above-linked series, or because they're more kink-and-smut than anything else.
Harlequin Girl - Torchwood, Gwen-centric with strong hints of Gwen Cooper/John Hart as sort of a past-future relationship. 583 words
A Moment Out of Time - Torchwood, ensemble + OFC, non-linear narrative. 951 words
While the City Burns - Doctor Who, Romana-centric, AU. 1140 words
Dance With Me - Doctor Who, Nine/Donna. 1230 words
Here - Highlander/Mythology, Anat-centric (Anat being a Canaanite goddess of beauty, fertility, war, and a few other related things). 200 words
All That's Left - Iron Man II, tangentially related to the bad guy, centered on an OFC whose name I don't think I've used in either story I've done with her. 506 words
A Friend - Highlander, Amanda and an OFC. 447 words
Clarity - Stargate SG1, dark AU, Sam Carter-centric, with added Jolinar. Background relationships. 702 words
Satisfaction - Stargate SG1, dark AU (same as above), Sam Carter-centric, plus Jolinar, and there's a hint of Janet Fraiser thrown in. 567 words
Favors and Old Stories - Highlander, centered around an original female Immortal, mostly banter and light. 716 words (This one, and "A Friend", are also part of an AU centered around the OFC, who tends to be very strong-willed and stubborn. There is also a darker version of her, though most of those stories involve a good deal more violence, sex, or both.)
Loutre - Pirates of the Caribbean, OFC-centric, two parts. 1050 words
Five Times Amanda Met Koschei - Doctor Who/Highlander, AU, Amanda & Koschei friendship over time. 1013 words
The Old Man and Beer - Highlander, AU, OFC-centric, more with "A Friend" and "Favors and Old Stories". 1497 words
Hopefully a help? :) I hope you find fic you can podfic, however you find it.
