1. We had a nice weekend in Bristol, although I need to learn not to be so stupidly stubborn. We were doing a treasure hunt, and I didn't want to admit that I was worn out two-thirds of the way through. It didn't help that there was a half hour walk from the end back to the car, which really did me in. Still, we had fun and our friend looked after us incredibly well, which was lovely. She'd done a huge amount of reading about what I could and couldn't eat, which she didn't need to do, and she let us use her washing machine to get 4 loads done, which was so much appreciated! I've come back to work exhausted, but feeling loved, which I'll settle for <3
2. Today is a Big Week at work, with Important Things getting going. My library assistant and I had a sit down on Friday to talk about all the projects and jobs that need doing in the near future. It was incredibly helpful - she's far more sensible than I am, and not afraid to tell me when I'm wrong, which is something I value hugely - but OH GOOD GRIEF. So many things. All the things. I'd been sort of kidding myself that we were pottering on okay but. Yeah. No. I'm saving up people's DW posts to reply to in little breaks, as I think I'm going to need something to look at that's not enormous lists or unwieldy spreadsheets.
3. Speaking of which, it's been aaaaaaages since I did a meme:
The problem with LJ/DW: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your journal and find out what people don't know about you.

Date: 2018-02-06 01:26 pm (UTC)1. We don't have pets, and our lifestyle doesn't lend itself to them, as we're often away. But we do regularly walk someone else's dog, who gets MEGA excited when we see him :)
2. It has taken me a long time to accept that I am incapable of not bringing humour into everything I do. I've stopped fighting it, and just accept that I'm going to be the Chandler in any given situation, appropriate or not!
3. In terms of canon? Doctor Who. It's my go-back-to-fandom, every time. In terms of 'being involved with other fans'? SGA. It was the height of LJ, the canon had holes to drive fic through, and the atmosphere was fab.
What about you?

Date: 2018-02-07 09:26 pm (UTC)No pets, though as I get older I am considering it more and more. I think I might have to go with The X-Files for fandom. It's really tough because I was so in love with Supernatural for so long and SGA leaves an ache in my heart with every fic and rewatch, and I am never over Star Trek, but at the end of the day, I think XF being my first fandom (long before I knew what fandom was) and the revival/new seasons in these last couple of years mean I will just never be over it. There's so much nostalgia caught up in it for me.

Date: 2018-02-06 01:28 pm (UTC)Yes, we've been married 11.5 years now! We met (boringly) when we were students, although I was 2 years above J. It was a great relief when I was no longer dating a teenager! We met properly in 2002, and starting going out in early 2003, so it's been 15 years together. Gosh!
What about you? Same question!
