Oh dear, I knew it was all going too well. I realised this morning that if I went on the way I'd been going, the dissertation was going to end up about 25,000 words. Since I only have 15,000 to play with, something's gotta go and I think it's most of the reading I've been doing in the wonderful Duke Humfrey's library. *sigh* It's not exactly a waste of 3 days, as it all forms background, but it is annoying as it's much more interesting than the myriad articles about the new library, which all say more or less the same thing. Back to the drawing-board, I guess. I shall just have to wait and write those articles I've been thinking about. Apparently I'd rather be a library historian than a librarian, except I don't think they pay you for doing that...

But to cheer myself up, I found and have requested from the stacks a journal article by a certain "R Lebeau". It's too much to hope that he might be a Remy (and only about 4 of you are going to get that reference anyway) but it made me smile :D

*snicker* As long as the article isn't in French. I love coincidences like that.

I hope that your research goes well. It sounds like you're enjoying yourself, at least :)

I've ordered a book from the stacks in French, and am just hoping the combination of just-about-remembered GCSE and better-remembered Latin are going to get me through. And Babelfish of course ;)

I'm not sure the article's going to have anything new, but I've got the chance to cite R Lebeau, so therefore I don't care *beams*

It's going, I understand what I'm doing, I'm just getting into the boring bit - time to grit my teeth and get on with it.

A book in French? *eyes you with respect* Very brave of you.

Just think, it'll all be over soon.

Bonus points for quoting R. Lebeau and with the French connection I'm tempted to ask if there is any mention of kinetic energy anywhere...just to make the coincidence super creepy...

Sadly the Lebeau article isn't in the French book - even I might have been slightly creeped at that point :)

I'll let you know on the kenetic front...

Hello! *waves*

I'm really missing you guys, but I can't post on my own LJ, (some restriction on the SU computers in Cardiff *rolls eyes*) so I'm dropping in here to see how you're doing, seeing as you have a lot of the same people on your flist that I do.

Having too many words is better than having too few, so don't write the stuff from DH off just yet... Still, with under a fortnight to go, I agree you need to be brutal with your editing. Good luck!

Hope you're doing okay hon *hugs and positive vibes*

Hello! *hugs back* Good to see you! How's Cardiff?

I've pretty much had to scrap the lot of the library history. If it had just been 1-2k it wouldn't have been so bad, but I was reading as though I was doing an MPhil, not an MA *sigh* But I'm back on track and hoping to finish a first draft by Weds.

Keep your fingers crossed! Take care :D
