jadesfire: [text] I'm having a fangirl moment (Fangirl moment)
[insert annual 'it's dark and I'm miserable' paragraph here]

The SAD is kicking my butt at the moment. I'm using my lightbox, and we've had enough sunshine on some days that my tiredness is at exhaustion level but not beyond. It's the mood that's the killer, making it hard to get anything done beyond basic survival.

Bah. I hate November. For the last few years, I've made a point of doing MUCH Christmas decorating and planning and enjoying, as I find it takes the edge off December. But November is always horrendous (not as bad as February, but nearly) and apparently this year is no different. I'm going to make a point to get out in the sunshine at lunchtime today, even though what I want to do is crawl under my desk and not come out.

In other news, I finished Daredevil S3 Spoilers )

I am deeply enjoying being in a fandom where it is totally legitimate to have a character hit things with sticks (the sticks are CANON) as an expression of emotion. This is right bang-slap in the middle of my comfort zone, and I'm loving it.

Also, good heavens, this is a big fandom. And a very focussed one. It makes me think that this is what it would have been like if we'd had AO3 like we do now throughout the height of SGA. My hit/kudos stats are ridiculous. That's not just false modesty - I'm used to what the stats on Gen looks like, and I have no complaints about not getting my fic read. But. Yeah. This is definitely...different to the norm. It's fun, but. Yeah. Woah.

Anyhoo, I'm chuffed to bits with this fic, as it tackles three of my pet peeves with Daredevil fic:
1. Matt Murdock is blind. No, actually blind. Whatever his other senses are doing, he cannot see with his eyes.
2. His armour has a point. He's really kind of squishy, so as OTT as the armour might be it's deeply necessary.
3. Thor is not a moron. He's big and blustering and alien, but not stupid. I love the first Thor film and am crazy-excited for the third. The less said about the second, the better, although Darcy remains awesome in it.

It also contains what I consider some of my best 'character has a hangover' work, which considering I don't drink, I think is quite an achievement.

With that out of the way...

Summary:

It’s not all bad, being friends with an Avenger. Thor has some great stories, Asgardian Mead, and is handy for resetting dislocated joints. Also, Thor’s friends think Daredevil has the best eyesight in New York, and Matt certainly isn’t going to tell them otherwise.

My favourite bit:

"So," Matt said to Foggy, some time later, "this is going to be the story that begins, 'Let me tell you about the time I was nearly decapitated by Captain America.'"

Foggy choked on his beer.

Despite not posting here very often, I still like to have this place as a repository for all my work, as it's nice to have a full record somewhere that's not just AO3. I'm working on getting back to posting regularly - the summer weather here has put me in full SAD mode, which has meant lots of hunkering down and not talking to people. Which, of course, totally helps /sarcasm.

Anyhoo, I seem to have stumbled into Marvel Netflix fandom pretty much by accident, partly because Jessica Jones was so damn good and partly because Daredevil is fangirl catnip. I swear, not since John Sheppard has there been a character so perfectly written to appeal to the fangirls, and I am no exception. There's even an episode where he spends half of it chained to a chimney stack. Seriously, creators, it's like you know us.

ANYWAY. The Defenders comes out tomorrow, and I may have used my last day of holiday to stay home and watch it as soon as it's released. Possibly. But I wanted to get this fic out first, because the last section will almost certainly be jossed after tomorrow.
