My throat hurts so badly that I can barely swallow. The pain is right at the top behind my nose, which has had me waving my hands like a mad woman, because I kind of want to rub it better except I can't because...you know...it's inside my head. This is a definite design flaw. I think it's just a cold - I'm not running a fever or anything like that, I just feel run down - but if it gets worse overnight, I'm going to have to think carefully about my London trip tomorrow.

*sigh* How does my body know these things, and make me sick just before something I really want to do? I'm due to visit a law firm library and have dinner with my mum tomorrow. I can just imagine how thrilled everyone on the train will be if I get on sniffing and sneezing.

But I'll worry about that in the morning. For the moment, I just have to work out how to swallow without giving myself earache.

OWWWWWW :(

Him: What did you have for lunch?
Me: Microwavable Rice that I bought in Tescos.
Him: Why didn't you take moussaka from the fridge?
Me: Because I didn't know there was Moussaka in the fridge
Him: It's right there! In the big bowl! In the fridge.
Me: I didn't know it was there! If I'd known it was there, I would have taken it for lunch, but I didn't know it was there so I didn't. *sulks*
Him: Er...
Me: I'm not talking to you any more.

or

Him: I'll just heat the casserole up.
Me: Why not use a saucepan?
Him: Because I was going to put it in a bowl in the microwave.
Me: Huh.
Him: Does it make any difference?
Me: I think it's quicker and makes it taste better.
Him: Maybe. I don't think it makes much difference really. *gets saucepan out*
Me: Don't use a saucepan just because I said so!
Him: Er...
Me: Use it because you think it would be better not because I told you to. You shouldn't do it just because I said so, you should do what you think is best! *bursts into tears*
Him: ...okay...

Comment at your own risk. The way my hormones are right now, you could end up with anything from a drabble about butterflies to a rant about the state of sausages...

I hate having my morning routine interrupted. *sigh* Things went rapidly downhill after my earlier post, mostly because my other half got up and human interaction was required.

After we'd stitched his head back on where I bit it off, he drove me into town for the blood test. Have I mentioned before how awesome my doctor's surgery is? Not only did the nurse see me early, she picked up at once how scared I was, and was...not sympathetic, exactly, just. Understanding. I HATE needles so very much, but I can handle it if the person wielding it just gets on with things. I had a nightmare at one blood test where the nurse basically mocked me for it and got me so wound up that I couldn't hold still enough for her to take any blood and when she did it hurt. So. Yeah. Nice nurse=very good things.

But with my eating routine thrown like that, I've been off-kilter all morning. Tired and grumpy and not really able to concentrate. Grrrr.

But. Lists have helped this week, so let's keep at it:

It's not too long although 2/3 of it is copied from yesterday )

HALP!

Firefox has apparently decided that it doesn't want to download anything. Or rather, it pretends it wants to and then doesn't. Tease.

It gets to the "what do you want to do with this file" stage, but when I click 'save', instead of a computer directory I get... Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero. Also, when I go to "Tools -> Downloads" the history has been wiped clean, which I'm thinking is a bad thing.

This means NO PODIFC. This is a very, very BAD thing. *whimper* I've tried sendspace, Megaupload and the audiofic archive, and it's definitely a problem with Firefox. Oh, and I also know this because when I went to download the latest version, just in case, it wouldn't download.

I'm running Firefox3 in Fedora. It's possible that I can get the files from Firefox (the archive might be open-able rather than save-able) but I'm then not 100% sure how to run them for my Linux-fu is poor.

HALP?

ETA: After some prodding, I think the problem is that Firefox doesn't think my computer exists. When I try to change the setting to "Save files to" and click 'Browse', nothing happens at all. This is going to take some forum browsing, I think...

Dear Builders next door,

I made the effort this morning. Having barely slept last night, I woke up feeling completely washed out, my head is full of cotton wool, my sinuses are full of unmentionable gunk and my eyes feel like someone attacked them with sandpaper while I was sleeping. But I made the effort. I'm here at work, at least attempting to get something done.

So please, for the love of all that's quiet and peaceful, STOP THE DAMN DRILLING!. You're supposed to be putting the building up, not taking lumps out of it.

No love,

Me.

ETA: I now have a line from an SGA fic going round my head, which some kind soul at [livejournal.com profile] sgastoryfinders tracked down for me: "Sheppard raised his head with a look of utter, adoring gratitude, as though he'd already thought Rodney was the greatest thing since crunchy peanut butter and Rodney had just proved he was grape jelly too."

Because [livejournal.com profile] miss_zedem is officially the best thing not only since peanut butter and grape jelly, but also the best thing sliced bread, mint chocolate aeros and sundried tomotoes.

Pictures to follow ;D
