I've had to have a tidy up of my friends list, purely for self-preservation - I can't be skipping 100 entries every morning to see what everyone's up to. And there are people who I thought were on the list who turned out not to be. So.

I don't think I trimmed my list too drastically, and I don't think I write anything fascinating enough under friends-lock that anyone will be too disappointed. I'm half-expecting to get a lot of sighs of relief...

Friends lists are funny things, and very personal - I'm taking my time about friending back at the moment, mostly due to a down-turn in the amount of time I have to read. So friend or defriend (that's a verb? seriously?) at will, and I will do the same and (hopefully) no hard feelings.

I think that 'to friend' is a verb in the same way that 'to Google' and 'to Facebook' are... =)

I really admire you doing that - I just do. I need to do that over here, and I just don't have the nerve. Maybe I'll make it a New Year's resolution.

Trimming your friends list of journals you don't really read or don't have anything in common with anymore is always awkward. Mine's fairly huge but I just tend to find people genuinely interesting. I just haven't had to think about doing one yet.

But I know how hard it is, which is why I leave a little note in my profile that basically says 'feel free to defriend me if we've fandom drifted or through general apathy.'
